Make sense. Ideas on how to fix it?

Install an appropriately sized diode in the wire from the backup switch between the backup switch and the switched hot from your switch.

How did you wire the manual switch ? You should just be switching the ground.
I do think it's switched that way, but not exactly sure. My friend said it also had to be ran through a relay. Is this correct?

@Montecresto Stop looking for specific wires and start looking for what has been eaten by the mice. Make repairs to what is eaten.

Yes sir, I thought that was what I was doing. So the small plug on the right side in this photo has about a 1/4” of blue wire sticking out of it. I don’t know if that’s original like that or not, and I haven’t yet found an other end anywhere laying around. This is right under the drivers seat but viewed from the rear with the bed up. Sorry to frustrate you so @Neohio :)

Not frustrating me at all.
Is that plug a sensor? Any wires on the other side of it?

Ok...

I’m removing the seat back and the plastic shield between the seat back and seat bottom now. So in this pic, it’s the plug on the bottom that has a single blue wire going into it. I don’t know if that’s the blue wire that goes to the neutral indicator switch that other members found chewed into or not. If it is, odd that rats are choosing that wire, as I’ve found nothing else chewed on yet. I also went back and with a stick picked through all the rats nesting material that I had removed yesterday evening and didn’t find a blue piece (or any color) of wire in it, shrug.

I only found one sensor on the 16 diagram with a single blue wire. Your neutral switch.

Maybe this will help you find the other end of the wire?

The blue ones are the tastiest. To me, they taste like a bubblegum sno-ball. Look for blue-tinged rat turds.

Thanks for that, @Hondasxs directed me to the SM this morning, but with my phone, I couldn’t find that to save my life. I’m no it guy which doesn’t help one bit.

Finally found this laying next to the starter? on top of the engine, about a 4” long piece of black coated blue wire right in the center of the pic with rat turds below it on the engine. So, I’m reasonably satisfied that is the problem. Using the diagram you provided I’m going to go look and see. Thanks again.

Ok, this diagram is the opposite direction from the plug and the wires perfectly in tact that way, still looking for where it went to the other way.

Ok, found where the other end goes, you can see the wire sticking out about an inch, center of the pic and it goes right into that large wiring harness. Only the 4” piece of wire that I found is missing.

This may be the most difficult part, only a 1/4” sticking out and I can’t see yet a way to just pull it out and stick a new wire in. Might be able to solder to it????
