Alright, all you 1000 guys running packouts.

Let's see some pictures and links to what plates you are running in the bed.

What do you like about it?
What do you dislike about it?
What limitations have you found?

Please share some pictures of your cases and their contents. I need to come up with some ideas on how to change my current storage.

I'll be following this post for ideas also. Packout looks like the way to go.
When we patched my tire Wednesday. Everything was easily within reach. For me to dig thru my stuff for my co2 kit, find my plugs etc. We may still be there.

One limitation I did see. Or it may have just been how the plate was mounted. Tram was unable to close his tailgate on his 5 seater with the rear seats up. He was using the small 4" tall cases at the time.

It isn't very often I use my rear seats, but did identify it as an issue.

I'll get pics tonight when I get home. I just used the Milwaukee packout plates and one behind each seat. I bolted them in but make sure you do it when seats are up so they can still be used when needed. Only thing they rattle on trail but they are secure

I have the hard bedliner because I haul a lot of wood. I also very seldom need the rear seats. I bolted the packout frame though the bedliner. I do run a self retracting ratchet strap over the two boxes to keep the movement to a minimum.
Overall I'm really happy with it. 782a27ed3030bd19ba54164a901baa8a

I installed the plates on the back of the jump seat backs So u can still use those seats when needed. Easy to do, just have the seats up to position them then mark it. You will need saome longer bolts with lock nuts preferably to mount the plates. Your cofig of the type of boxes are going to differ from others depending on your needs. I changed mine a few times. As for conrents, id have to dig into my Talon to see exactly what I have.

Negative. They cant stay in, youll never get the seat all the way up.
you could however just keep probably one or two of the very slim ones in with the seats up.
I have the bed extender so I have more space… but wasn’t sure if they could stay mounted vertically or not

That was what I was thinking too.. but was hoping for a dual purpose solution
I see your issue cuz of your kids in the back. You could do it with the tailgate down (with your seats up) and mount the plates to it and the bed but then you would have to unbolt the plate to ever close your bed. depends on how much u need the latter???

Another solution that Ive used before the pacouts is some containers from Plano. They make them narrow enough to fit behind the seat and that bed extender. They have a good latch and a rubber seal on the lid. They also come in a variety of sizes as well.
I still use them for my hunting cloths cuz of the good seal.

Yea I have craftsman storage boxes which are nice (size, interconnect without latching, waterproof) but you lose space does to shape and such

This was on my 700 but fits on my 1000. It's a kolpin box. Holds a ton of stuff.

Just some of the stuff in it.

Here's a plano box. Doesn't seem as durable as the kolpin but it's a little bigger. Fits on the pioneer too with the seats up and tailgate down

Remmy's beer stays cold too!!! And if you have a 1000-3, you don't have to worry about the back seats........
