The snow will fly soon and I need to get my 1000-5 outfitted with a winch and plow. We don’t have a massive driveway and how much snow we get really varies each year. I could probably continue to use my snowblower, but that’s not NEARLY as much fun as plowing!

Questions:

1. Is the Warn bucket conversion any good and can you even use it with the larger plows that I’d put on the SXS?

2. Any size and brand that you guys lean toward?

3. Already have a switch that’s mounted and ready. Other than that, can someone recommend a complete kit? Would like to buy a kit including winch and mount to ensure everything fits and works together!

Thanks

I went the cheap route and went with a 66 inch Tusk plow kit off eBay and a Viking (by viper) winch from cabelas. (Less than $500 total) Can’t remember where I got the winch mount plate from but it is machine specific and fit perfectly. Put the whole system in in one evening because we got an early snow. I do wish I would have went with the 72 inch plow. I haven’t put my factory tires and rims back on yet for winter to narrow up the machine, but the 66in plow when angled doesn’t quite cover the wheel base. Make sure you use a second battery if you don’t have one already. A winch takes a ton of power.

Ok, sounds like 72” is the way to go. And I don’t think they make a Warn bucket conversion for the 72”, so scratch that question.

Now just need to find a solid 72” kit. Would you guys recommend the electric hydraulic arm for angling the blade? Seems like it may be more trouble than it’s worth for a small driveway.

Cheapest hydraulic kit I could find was 800 bucks. To me you got a push that little button thousands of times to make it worth that.

I have a Warn 4500# winch and a 72" Moose Plow system. It's worked great.
Only change that I made was going to a synthetic cable for the winch.

I have the KFI 72inch. 3000lb superwinch with synthetic rope. With battery isolater using stock size and type for 2nd battery. Used two winter's for driveway. I would use a second battery to run the winch. The Winch draws to many amps causing a voltage drop, that causes issues with proper clutch operation. There are several threads on the issue.
