wonder if i could swap spring from the 425hd to the 429s

they dont give out their spring lengths and diameters i dont think ,but the HD versions seem to have the same travel (3.85")
guess a phone call would answer it?

Found this description ( from Corvette forum) and pics to visualize:

FLOATING PISTON INTERNAL DESIGN: The most effective internal design for a performance shock that needs to last a lifetime of street use is the floating piston design, or “non emulsion” design. This design separates the oil volume from the gas volume and allows each to operate consistently despite changes in external conditions. In a standard emulsion shock, the oil and gas are free to mix together and can result in inconsistent performance when operating at low speeds and high speeds respectively. This is not good for the operation of the shock, as inconsistent performance correlates to inconsistent control of your Corvette’s wheels and suspension. Be sure to run floating piston shocks on your Corvette. Take a look at the diagram to see how the designs differ.

Chooglin, you still can get 429 for 35$ extra, if you like them more.

I really had no clue that they are step up from 425 in design, when I bought them. Thank you Chris for looking up this info

It sounds like if you are a very aggressive (say a racer or hare scrambler) balls to the walls type rider , the 429's would be the shock to get.

I am mainly a trail rider (some mudd , rough trails) so I think the 425' would suit me best. As I mentioned before , I hate that I need to come to an almost complete stop when I see a bump or dip in the trail.I don't drive fast but i would love to go through the trails at a nice even pace !

My style of driving is about the same as yours i'm guessing. Now i've seem Jak's videos.....hes a bit faster than i'll be going most times :)

I think I am staying with the 425's

I can't wait to hear you thoughts on the 429's after you get them installed !

I am really surprised that there isn't more p5 owners doing this mod !

I think after this mod , this will be the perfect 50" sxs
11,000 views on this thread. There's interest for sure. With your adapters,and more test units out there,it'll get more popular.
Those that say they don't want a pioneer 500 for a racer will probably realize that they might enjoy a smoother ride while cruising the trails or climbing that rough rocky part of the path....

I think 1/3 of views are mine. I wish we had few more testers . So far seems like its our private thread. Well small sparkle will make big fire :)

Mine shocks still not shipped , I wake up and even before going to bathroom, look at the forum . I think I'm getting obsessed.

I'm fully behind you guys after seeing what shocks did to the 700. Some people don't realize they need shocks until they've ridden with them.

So, now having both the 1000 and 700 with fox...the 700 with fox kicked ass compared to the stock 1000. It was light years smoother. With that philosophy I'd definitely want good shocks on the 500. You don't need to ride like an ass hole to enjoy them.

These guys are trying to figure out a better shock package that is a fairly easy install for a reasonable amount. There currently aren't direct bolt ons designed for it.
