just left a dealer looking to buy a 500 and we got to talking about things straight from Honda. His updates indicated a possible updated version coming in 2019-2020 with a factory dump box. Also being able to buy a OEM dumping box for all the present ones with a OEM price of $899. Just thought I’d share!

Wonder if its this one? Since they have a SC factory wonder why not offered before, other than to sell more 700 and 1000s.

I don’t know but very well possible! Why Honda wouldn’t introduce a dump bed in the USA and Canada first is beyond me! I thought I’d use my 1000 often for the dump bed but I don’t. I think I’m more of a 500 guy instead of the 1000

Wow, you don't hear that too often but I think I'd be the same way. The first time I didn't fit somewhere I'd be b****ing about the size of the f'ing bus I was driving!

Once in a while the bigger dump bed might nice, but I'm perfectly happy with the plywood deck I put on. It lets me change things around for my different activities. When I need a dump box I bungle on a big plastic mortar mixing tub I have. For prairie dogs I screw down a big storage box with a lid. For elk hunting I have a big ATV case I tie down. What has turned out to be very handy is having some of the plywood deck left unused for a field work bench.

Me too! Great for hauling deer,
Feed, seed and a bunch of stuff. I like the little P5 it can go in fun places but you can’t beat the power of the P1 when you need it.

I found out on my 700-4 that if your hauling anything but light material the dump bed ...doesn't. Its more suited to allow you to get to the engine. with the ROPS in the way the bed can't be filled except by a shovel. 1000-5 isn't any better. It will hold my camping gear and recovery gear aloft when I have the bed raised up but thats its limitation. When I have to move material I rent a skid steer or my neighbor will bring his 50hp tractor with a loader over or box blade. Its not generally amounts I would want to move by hand in a SxS.

I ended up finding a scrap trailer that I made into a yard trailer, its not pretty or perfect but it does the work and its easier to get around the property with.

Where we ride there is enough room 98% of the time for a 1000 but we are also limited to local spots in general. Where the draconian 50" limitation is a plenty I can see the 500 being much more useful.
