Pulling something that far with 500 would be tough though I get that. Hopefully you're going to help some
I'm going to continue to encourage Dp5 to get a P1K over the next year as my way of helping. :)

I understand why you guys want him to get a 1000 but I hope he stays with the p5. I just think it would be cooler for bragging rights and such. Would have been cool to see someone do it on a 700 too.....MONTE! Haha!

I hear ya T, but if being the first one to blow up a P5 is bragging rights, sure. :) If you look at the mileage, and the days out, the P5 cannot do this! It's wishful thinking. The P7 maxes out at 45 without a trailer, it would survive the trek on a wing and a prayer. Pulling a 1000 lb. trailer at sustained speeds of 50-55 for over two weeks straight will itself be a task for the P1K. IMO

Got a chance to speak with dp5 this morning. So, fact of the matter is, a couple states we will be traversing have a minimum speed limit we must maintain, 45-50 mph. The 500 can't hit those speeds let alone keep it. Dp5 is suspending his entry to the PROTC at the moment. If he does upgrade equipment to be able to make the trek he will be welcome regardless of whether or not another rider has signed up or not.

Dp5 as an individual will be an asset to the expedition with his enthusiasm and positive thinking. I hope he doesn't remain disappointed for long and can find a way to get himself into a P1K. A forum wide collection/sponsorship for Dp5 would be real cool. I'd contribute.

Perhaps someone will check with admin and start such a thread to see what kind of interest there might be in that.

I'd put in a little each month. He's a great guy and wants to be involved in this trip more than anything think it's crucial we at least try

Honda SxS's pulling trailer campers at 45-50 min mph across two states? Nope, don't believe that speed can be sustained. How you moving the campers? I may have missed a few threads.
