Well within the towing capacity of the machines. Read through the thread

I restarted and post 1 is good. Ya all lost me when starting to build and pull campers, then came along and said maintain 45 to 50 mph across states. You all are gonna have a ride of the century and I'll be reading. Keep rolling. ;)

I hear ya T, but if being the first one to blow up a P5 is bragging rights, sure. :) If you look at the mileage, and the days out, the P5 cannot do this! It's wishful thinking. The P7 maxes out at 45 without a trailer, it would survive the trek on a wing and a prayer. Pulling a 1000 lb. trailer at sustained speeds of 50-55 for over two weeks straight will itself be a task for the P1K. IMO

P1k wont do it sustained at 45 to 50 or more pulling a camper for hundreds of miles for 2000 miles in a 2 to 3 week period. Does it have trailer brakes?

I've pulled mine about 50 miles so far, it doesn't seem to work hard at all. I barely know it's there. Not bad for just a shakedown run. The whole trailer only weighs about 700lb. Well within the 2k tow rating the p1k is designed for. Also, remember these things only have 8 gallons of fuel. We will be stopping every 100-120 miles or so to fuel down/stretch legs. I run mine 55-60 all the time since I can ride the roads out here.

Not huge trailers we're talking about here. Mine is 4x8 and montes is 4x7 I think?

Hmmm im gonna have to get mine out and see how it does with the IGR and what top speed is. I may have to figure out a bigger tire or switch back the gearing for the trip. We will see.

I think I would definitely lose the igr for this trip. Or run a tire that offsets the effective gearing back to stock. But then you're leaving some fuel mileage on the table.

How do you know this. Do you have some documentation from Honda that we haven't seen.

The curb weight on this trailer is 685 lbs. and yes, it's 4x7. I haven't gone as far as mopar has yet, but just the little bit that I have done, the P1K drags it around like a dirty dish rag.

Pardon me, but what's the IGR?

The p1k will have no issues pulling these trailers, they are designed for the weight and the machine is built with a life span of far greater than anything made by other manufacturers, I have every confidence in it's ability to handle this trip.
