So in all seriousness what should the target weight be? I'm considering an enclosure on the back of the Honda to house clothes and food etc. I strongly discourage food in the trailer. The trailer will just have sleeping stuff inside and maybe a few things mounted on it. What's the target for curb weight of everything together ready to roll? The pioneer weighs 1541 lbs. I'm thinking 2000-2500 total weight....

I would think under 1000 but you can get too light. A 400 lb. trailer is going to bounce all over the place causing problems on rough trails.

I don't see how 700 lbs (or 1000 for that matter) is too much???? From the earliest conversation on the subject 7-800 lbs was the expected curb weight??? Have you learned something about the P1K or the route that causes you concern???
No, I just didn't like how it pulled, the weight was in the wrong places and I made some construction mistakes I'd like to fix

Oh I see. I'm certain that had to do with the central placement of the axle.

And it was 700lb already and I hadn't even added a bed, supplies, spare, tool box etc.
Mine is 650 now. My spares will be in the P1K along with clothing and other gear. The only real weight to add to the trailer will be three five gallon gas cans or about 120 lbs.

Hello all. I have been reading this thread for a while and really enjoy it. I offered some time back to preride or scout as much of the western end of your route as I could. The offer still stands but I will need a map of it if that is possible. I am also planning on riding out and joining you all for the final section of your trip. As a side note, I am running the Maxxis Big Horn Lite truck tire on my rig. I now have over 4000 miles on the tires and almost 6000 miles total. I ride on pavement and hard surface non paved and quite a bit on mountain trails, not to the extent that CP does but I have had no tire issues. In my humble opinion a good road speed for extended periods of time is between 45 and 55. Of course off road conditions dictate other speeds. I am keeping up on this thread so any thing I can do to help let me know.
Hey old trucks, did you get the map of the last leg of the ride? Thanks for your help!

Probably not. My daughter is here for the summer, I have a bunch of camping dates coming up, a torn apart truck in my driveway that needs to run and am getting close to closing on the house. If I go before the ride it will probably be this fall.
Ok. I'm working on it now.
