Anybody installed and using electric heaters on P500?

I have installed winch, electric steering, should have enough space for heater, but my dealer does not have clear answer and not much experience with heaters for P500.

I'm not good at plumbing, not sure if I could do ok installing heater myself.

Found this on ebay Portable 300 Watt Electric Heater Fan UTV Cab RV Camper Auto Car Truck 12 Volt

I have that heater but I have not tried it yet, since I will be using the winch a lot for plowing, I probably wont use it. gonna see how the cab works in the cold weather I may not even need it. It's the wind gusts that make it so cold here, it's rural farm land w/ vast open fields blocking the wind is the main problem. I will post the results if I end up using it.

Be careful the Pioneers only put out 450 watts, if you're drawing a constant 300 you have a very good chance of running into issues when you're running a winch to plow that can draw upwards of 600- 3600 watts.

Won't get that much heat out of them electric is inefficient heat source.

The Honda heater is in the 25000btu range 300watts is a little over 1000btu

I do not know if the electrical system would sustain that 300 watt draw from the heater while running other things light headlights, etc.

If you are going to ride in cold weather a lot your comfort may be worth investing in a proper heater tied into the coolant loop just like our car / truck. They are about $400 but only draw about 5 watts to run the fan and use the engines natural heat to warm up the cab. Here is some mor e info on them.

Firestorm Compact Cab Heater for Polaris RZR | Moto Alliance

Although they do not list anything Honda specific yet I'm may be due to lack of demand, he only things that my differ is the size / length of the rubber hose and a few adapters. Surely it would not be too hard to accommodate a Pioneer. I think someone on here has already installed one of these in a P700,

You can use the smaller of the two Summit racing heaters and it will fit under the hood. It will plumb into the coolant lines.

It looks like this is the model you are referring to, should definitely do the trick at 28,000 btu hr. for $150 plus the brackets ducting etc if one decides to put it in. That is a much cheaper option. Thanks for mentioning it.

It worked really well on my 700 under the hood sucking in cold air.

If you mounted it in the cab where it was recirculating warmer air. It'd RUN YOU OUT and you wouldn't need the duct kit.

I agree with the others - you want to AVOID an electric heater. Not nearly enough output to run that along with power steering, winch, etc....
The ones you plumb in work extremely well and only have a small electrical draw which is exactly what you need. Also do to the poor sealing of the cab and the fact it is just canvas you really need some heat output to fight off the cold.

Now, I'm very interested in your set up. Could you please take a pic how it looks inside the cabin? How did you direct vents. What do you mean duct kit? Did you find kit actually to seal all gaps?

I think I pulled trigger on under hood cargo tray too early and now not sure where I can fit this heater. Where would you install it inside ?
I want vents to blow on window and act like defrost. Now I need to find unit that I can install inside, compact and acts as defrost.

I'm very mentally drained now :), and physically too, just got back from first opening day for antelope , got doe , and just finished de boning. So my brain is shut off for creative ideas.

Thank you!

The top one can be directed for defrost.

There is also an electronic heater valve that is hidden under the core/fan. It let me bypass the heater in the summer.

Electronic heater valve was it in the kit?

@ohanacreek You get a few more switches on that dash my friend you are going to need an FAA pilots license to operate it.

Could you please draw on a paper a scheme where the best place to connect it and take a pic of it?

Has anyone see triangle shape vent openings? Looks like good place for upper vents would be two triangle shaped openings on both sides if speedometer.

Opening the valve lower picture opens the flow to the heater, closing it like in the top, closes the heater loop off from the engine (for the most part. I would mount it near the heater and out of the mud and water as much as possible.

Wow, that's incredible and gets good reviews too. It's going in the cart. Anybody have pics of where you mounted it under the dash?

Please look P500 - P500 Summit heater install before you by summit heater, you wot have space in the cabin, it will fit only under hood area, BUT, you loose that space, the heater is way too high output and your P500 wont keep up with heat generation , under-hood area also has colder air then cabin, summit is bigger by dimensions, I've "ate dog" with it, means I've tried/researched both summit and aquahot, and aquahot in cabin is the best option.
