Decided to change from my old basket to this new box/rack setup.

Spent all yesterday morning with my good buddy, who is a retired fabricator/welder, building the frame for this setup. We made it so it is held on with u-bolts, in case we needed to remove it. Husky 40" box, kolpin gun boot with base to slide it in-and-out of, a spare tire holder, and a 14" shelf.

Excited to try it on the trails, so far it is solid driving around the house.

Haha, they'll have to get comfy tied down on the shelf. Not as roomy for them, but it should work out. Plus some piece of mind that nobody will easily steal my gear and whatnot on the P500 when I leave it at the trailhead with the locking tool box. Just hoping it's not putting too much weight behind the rear tires when fully loaded... guess that's why it has a cage and a winch...

Excited to haul out deer and elk with this machine.

Nice upgrade.

Are you putting a cooler behind the metal box and transporting the animal in quarters?

I think it would be tight bringing out an elk, even if boned-out in bags behind the box. If I were to suggest, if that’s the plan, make the sides higher to contain all the (bloody) bags.

Hunt hard-life’s short!

Yeah, we usually just quarter them for the pack out. They'll fit nicely, but will definitely need to be tied down for the trip out. That's easy enough, as long as I get to take it off my back! Haha.

I made a new set up for the non hunting season. A couple of speakers, dry box with tow straps, snatch block, emergency tools and the cooler View attachment 271487
That cooler is the best I've ever owned. I put 3 16 pound bags of ice and still had some left after 4 days direct sunlight, 90° weather at Glamis. 87dc754268ab6455e0154cb021f7e07c
