Just want to see if I'm on the right track with this. I want to install a pair of white reverse lights, I've looked through the Key On Power sticky thread in the mod forum, but just want a little reassurance. Once I mount the two lights, I would then either combine the red wires from the lights, or run each one individually, and tap them into the two plugged black wires as shown in the sticky thread, and then ground each light, and that should give me white lights when the machine is in reverse, correct?

Yeah, I would ground them together. Less wires. and yes to the plug for the backup alarm... it works well. I only run one light to the rear and it's more than enough.

Thanks, I got a good deal on the two lights or else I'd have just done one. Appreciate the reassurance.

If your lights are LED you will need to verify ground and power to your lights. If you reverse polarity they may not work. You can definitely splice the light wires together before you connect to the back up harness.

If you haven't already looked for it, that plug isn't exactly easy to find. Or to get to when splicing. I wished I had gotten the plug in harness. And don't connect a voltmeter or test light to the backup plug. It'll just confuse you (trust me).

White wire with black strip is your positive.
The second wire will ONLY be grounded when in reverse and it will light up a test light when not in reverse. This doesn't make it positive.

I could swear I've seen them available before. Not sure where though.

Switched ground.... PITA
YES!!! I used the ground side to activate nitrous system on bike once (first and last time). It grounded out and activated during a pass. Luckily all it did was fill all 4 cylinders with fuel and lock motor up. Could've been alot worse. Next day I sold that controller lol.

I just got my back up harness and lights in the mail today, I plan on doing this over the weekend.

@ToddACimer which lights did you use? I have two mini led cube lights.

This is the harness I got....

From what I understand I'll use these two ends.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong..

I used 2 QuadBoss 3.5" LED lights. I also cut open that harness and took out the splices. So basically, I have the Honda plug to a 2 pin Deutsch which matches my light harness

These are what I used for reverse lights...low profile and pretty bright.IMG 20170227 174842804

"This doesn't make it positive. " LOL - that sounds stupid.
That POS "not positive" signal had me scratching my head when it leaked thru a relay coil and lit up my switches in reverse..
