I think I know the answer but I’m looking for a fellow tight-wad that may have tried this. I also don’t want to tear anything up. I’m getting ready to put tusk terrabite 28x10x14 on all 4s 5+2 oddest with 1 inch spacers on the back. Can I use one of my stock 27x9x14 stock wheels at a spare or will it tear it up running two different heights? Don’t judge me, I just dropped 1000 on Trailer and 1200 on wheels and tires.

Assuming I’m going to hear no I can’t do that. Anyone got a used 28x10x14 tusk terrabite tire they want to sale as a spare.

It really won't hurt anything, it may pull a little if on the front but I'd bet you wouldn't realize the difference. If you're hauling a spare so to get you "back to the truck" I'd say go for it but if you're hauling a spare with the idea of finishing a long ride....... 😕

On hard surfaces keep the diffs unlocked (turf mode). You don’t need all the wheels grabbing anyway.
If you have to lock up there should be enough slippage to keep you from tearing anything up.
Bottom line, run in turf mode if you can and it will get you back to the truck.

I don’t see a problem with using it as a get out of the woods spare as long as it’s not on a locked differential. Put it on the front if you can. That will let you use your locked rear to get through the rough stuff if you need it. It will drive a bit odd but it will drive.

I’m sure it would be fine to get you home in an emergency. I would just go in turf mode as much as possible. And avoid pavement.

Yep, what they said. Stay in turf mode and consider it a get home safety net.
I have a similar issue re my 4Runner - the plus 2 oversize tires are too big to fit in the spare well underneath. All I can do is carry plugs and a stock size spare. I'll have to run different size tires if I use my spare.
