Just can’t bring myself to put up with the weight and the volume of luggage that a spare tire adds. With a combined 12,000 miles on four sxs’s I’ve yet to ever even have to break out plugs or inflation.
Yea! But your mostly sane! HA!

Hey Tim, Take a look at a small car scissors jack. they are much liter than a bottle jack and have 2.5-3 times the lift range, and are very fast to go up or down compared to the bottle. (Junk yard for 5-10 bucks)

Thanks for the idea, WillyBill.

Is the tire loose in the bed, or is it mounted to something, or strapped in? I'm looking to do something very similar for what I'm building. I was mainly looking for a mount or sorts. I thought about this, but not sure yet what to do.

It is loose but will not fly out. The bed is lined with duraliner and it does not slide around. You could easily drill a hole in the bottom and put a J bolt through it if you want to secure it.

Any Spare Tire mounting recommendations out there???

I would like to keep the mount in a relatively low position with an eye to the P500 COG. I have one bolt-on application that may work. I'll post up the results a little later in this thread.

I figure some of you folks out in "big sky country" or up in the land of the "midnight sun", who run spares for extended hunting excursions, may have an idea I can pilfer and claim as my own..

I wonder if there’s enough space to mount a spare to the frame under the driver’s seat? Low center of gravity, and wasted space. You could access the bolt holding it on through the opening under the seat.

Just thinkin......
