I posted my setup there as well.
The bottom line is whether you want to mount on the tailgate or the muffler shield.

Cut this mount out of square tubing.

Mounts underneath and to the side of the tailgate. The hole in the middle is for a led light that taps into the taillight wires.

Which wires do you connect to? I have a red and black wire capped together and wondering if those would work?

Mines a 2018. My wire colors are different. Red off the led to red on taillight. Red and black off led to green. Green and yellow brake light. Use self tapping screws to mount it to the frame.

Well, they sure do obviate the effort Honda went to to waterproof the original connector. Seriously, those wire taps are quick and easy (that's why people use them), but as P1K5Dave says, they don't belong on anything you want to be reliable.

Well,believe it or not the dealer wired it that way. The orginal license plate holder was plastic and I broke it. So I made one out of metal. It was part of the street legal kit I had them put on when I bought the machine.

That means they probably used them in more places than just your license light.

Whenever you have problems in your electrical, start your troubleshooting by looking for those taps.
