Id like to add a winch to my P500 and Amazon has the Superwinch LT4000 UTV for $118. I'm not hard on my stuff and the winch will see some light to medium duty use pulling firewood logs and possible lifting a plow. It the $80 price increase of the Terra35 worth it in my application? Thanks!

I can't speak to the Terra, but my Superwinch has been super!

The big difference I saw when comparing the specs of both is the warranty. The Terra is Lifetime while the AT is 2 years limited. As far as I am concerned, a winch is alway strong enough until you really need it, then you realize you might wanted something a bit stronger.... Go big. I have a Warn 4500 on my P5.... The 3500 would not pull my P5 mounted on track out of the snow so I had to replace it with a 4500....

You have to realize that you loose power for every layer of rope there is on the spooler. Here are specs from WARN for a 3500

So when your winch spool if full of rope, a 3500 pds winch can only pull 1535pds

Here are the specs for the 4000...

There is 836 Pds difference between the 2 when the spoolers are full.

It all depends on what your needs are...

Hope this helped you and did not confuse you more...

Mart!

Can't speak for the LT series, really like my Terra 35, in my research it was one of the more robust winches with lower amperage draw then many others. Better internals too. I always carry (this stuff never leaves machine), 2 snatch blocks, a spare synthetic winch line, 15 ft 7000 lbs strap and 100 feet of very high quality rope. Small shovel and brush hook. All this stuff is light compact and stows easily.

Thanks for all your suggestions everyone. I placed an order for the LT4000UTV. Seemed like a great price for a name brand 4000lb winch.

I liked the higher mount for plowing.
I saw the rig that Warn came up with for plowing and it seemed unnecessary.
Lower mount would probably be better for winching out of a hole though.

I think there is a misprint on the 3500 # winch. A kilo is 2.2# so with a full spool it will do 2145# Still less but not the difference the misprint leads us to believe.
