Jakes on big engines are electrical and control the valves, exhaust brakes close off the exhaust flow.
I agree but they have same basic results, and both create drag. One is pressure build up against the piston and one is vacuum.

This is the daughters truck of a local Cummins performance shop owner I know. It’s a badass truck, don’t exactly want to pull up to it thinking you’re hot s*** in nearly anything.

Ya I’ve seen that for the Cummins, not too surprising being a heavy equipment engine. Bad ass that Cummins himself was the original designer, I wasn’t aware of that, figures though.
I had thought of doing just exhaust brake on my ‘98 but now running the ‘93 there’s just no need with the manual.

When I had the 07 and the 2012 I used the exhaust brake a lot.Especially when pulling the gooseneck.

I swear I’d do the engine brake if I had common rail, it’d be funny hearing that after f***er after my buddy comes into camp with his PowerStroke turbo screaming at 5mph!

Not sure how long the Turbo will last but our closest neighbor has a 2003 Cummins 4x4. He has to go fairly slow down the driveway, about 1/2 mile. But when he gets home he makes sure he revs it up 2 or 3 times then immediately cuts it off. Of course he has a straight pipe on it.

Lol! Ya make sure that fan is spinning at full R’s before you kill it. They just love 150k rpm with no oil pressure:eek: f***ing retards. Lucky turbos have gotten cheap I guess

The only good thing with the long driveway is that it has time to cool off.
