I don't think that's a bad price. I bought my 2017 1000 limited (3 seat) for $17500 new in 2018. This is a five seater like new with a top and windshield which alone is close to a grand. Remember its a limited model.

I ended up buying it for 16500. I think I got a good deal considering it only had 280ish miles & hardly a scratch on it. Loving it so far, what a step up from my 700-4. The ride is incredible with the fox shocks.

You got a decent deal. I bought a new 17 deluxe 1000-5 bare for 15200. Added top/windshield = 1100. You're in good shape.

Congrats and welcome to the LE club! You did well! Yes, you will love the fox shocks compared to the standard. I've ridden in a 1000-3 with standard shocks and it is a WORLD of difference. On the "comfort setting" the fox shocks almost float over bumps in comparison. When its time to play, change the setting and you're good to go.

We bought our 2016 P1000-5 Base model in March of '18 as a brand new leftover. Paid $13,100+ tax. No windshield or roof. Just couldn't justify a fancier model as I know that black plastic is gonna keep a nicer finish in the long run over those color matched panels. Fully intended on aftermarket wheels anyways too. Since all the 1000-5's come with power steering the base was a perfect fit. Have since had the dealer install all the updates in trans, heat kit, and upgraded air box.

I hope you're right! But if not, I figure one major repair and It'll pay for itself.....

The extended warranty on this machine is worth every penny.

The only reason I even bought my p1k is because that warranty is transferable and it went along to me when I bought it with 3 years left to go.

Just about every repair possible, costs more than the price of the warranty.

I realize there are exceptions to EVERY rule .......but as a general rule I have NEVER had a Honda (I have owned more than I can remember) that needed warranty work, even if it had been covered for 3-5 yrs. Therefore the thought of buying an extended warranty never even crosses my mind.

I agree, generally extended warranty's are not necessary. Especially with a brand with a very good reliability rating such as honda.

My main reason for feeling the warranty is a good insurance policy on these machines, is because they are still very new. I have a 2016 which was the first of it's kind as far as I can tell. It's already been through several major recalls and although recalls are covered, surprises that may crop up are not.

If not for that fact, I would say save the thousand dollars and spend it on upgrades :)

You’re assuming the dealer will accept the work as warranty work.. there’s the issue!

I totally get both sides of the story, but here's my thing- I'm not very tech savvy lol. Hands on yes, I am a fabricator/welder by trade. I get total satisfaction out of pinching pennies and repurposing materials to take junk and make it useful.
That being said I keep it old school (hints my 7.3 6 speed stroke in the driveway!) When something goes wrong with this thing I cant just dip the carb and shake some pea gravel around in the tank if you catch my drift lol. Last three Honda's were a 300 fourtrax, 90 trx, and a 250 sx!

Sometimes just the comfort of knowing its taken care of should an issue arise is worth a few extra dollars if it helps me sleep at night- a lesson I have become very familiar with! :)
