. . . hopefully is a short list.

Wondering, as a noob, what you guys have spent time or money on (whether a mod or accessory) that you really wish you hadn't, or wasn't quite what you expected, or maybe just didn't fit with your type of usage of the P5.

Side mirrors on my P500 were a waste, busted them off. I'd suggest center rear view over side mirrors. Mudbuster full kit, highly suggest the fronts, but wouldnt get the rears, never even put them on. I dont see much need for bumpers on the P500 either.

Gotta have larger tires, spacers, shocks, lights, skid plate. My stock skid plate was trash after one trip to RRB and Brimestone

In my opinion, waste of money.

Thanks, 'cause I like a quiet buggy. Was wondering about those . . .

Good topic to help others. Some lessons learned over the years.
  • Rear view mirror, like the side ones better for backing up in woods to see how close to trees on a tight fit.
  • Auto style insulated heat barrier, the rubber Trigger shield much better.
  • 2500 lb. winch, the 3500 a better match for the P500
  • A non-hardcoat half windshield, always go hardcoat
  • 1 1/4 hitch ball, the 2 inch Moose receiver makes for. Stronger mount, and can use truck hitches.
  • Lots of wire splices, wish I purchased the OEM accessory sub harness sooner

Didn't @WillyBill have some thing like that?
Hopefully he will post up when he sees this.

Here it is @lee. It's a bit quieter than the mass produced ones due to a bigger chamber. 2200 Miles and still keeping the woods quiet, LOL.

Nice work, looks like you could easily point the exhaust up higher if going for a ride with deep water.

Thanks! You are correct. In fact with a bit more length to the outlet flex pipe it could be run anywhere you like-even the roof! I've had it under water by about a foot and no issues though. I went with flex so mine does not move with the engine and stock muffler - it is rigid to the frame as opposed to making the second one have to move simultaneously with the stocker. Just a personal preference for durability sake and no feedback stress to the OEM setup.

Worth every penny:
I'm 2nd from the left ("borrowed" Pilot) and my son is 4th from the left in my Odyssey.

Huh...LOL?
I meant are those what the Honda belts are for.
I never even heard of anyone who didn't have a blast in those things.

Yes, one of the belts is for the Odyssey, the other is for a King Quad.
But what good dose it do to just say that without pictures?
I've been around long enuff to know the club rules!

If you have to have a belt it better be cheap or fun to be worth the trouble.

I tend to be poor white trash, so I tend to choose my accessories carefully. Really tend to just ride the thing more than go crazy with accessories. And for the most part, everything has worked.
The only thing really, is a rearview mirror I tried to "make" with one of those sticky add-on ones for cars. The 500 doesn't have a lot of room, so I really didn't want a big one like I had in the 700, so I bought the stick on and stuck it to the front lip of the roof. I knew that I would only be able to see a SxS length or 2 behind me without hunkering down, but that seemed ok. It just doesn't work in use. I have been thinking about buying one of those bicycle bar brackets and mounting it to the ROPS and then sticking the mirror on it, but at that point I will have as much invested in my home made job as the actual koplin one I didn't buy.
