Raising The Bar & Clearing The View: 07-20-21

I liked the Aomais Go dueling speakers but I got tired of letting them swing around while hanging from bungee balls on the ROPS and blocking my view in the rear view mirror. So I hung them up horizontally using hose clamps. They are solid up there and seem to work great in this position.

I Can't See The Light: 09-01-21

The passenger side LED whip busted. I am confident it contacted my flag whip mount towards the top and broke the whip while riding around. I contacted the manufacturer thru Amazon and they agreed to replace the whip under warranty. They asked I pay for shipping which was fine. They collected $30 from me which I thought was high but I felt fair that it was my fault it broke. Little did I know they actually sent me a complete packaged unit. New control box, both whips, and flags. A brand new sealed complete setup. I was very happy to get that. I covered the flag whip with a thermal foam insulator and secured with zip ties and everything is back to functioning like normal.

Next steps are planning some more additions. My wife and I are officially going to ride royal blue. We have reservations for the week of November 12th in the hoot owl cabins.

It's Pioneer Day!

Let's see how much I can get done. I took the day off work to have enough time to get everything done for our vacation to Ride Royal Blue next month! Here is a sneak of some things to get done.

So Pioneer Day was a bust. It turned into a Pioneer Week and then another Pioneer Day. I had a few additions to install to the pioneer and it took me much longer than I thought. I took 2 entire days off work and spent 2 to 3 hours after work for 5 days to finish all these projects. I will do my best to try to organize them on here.

Pioneer Day/Week: 10/22/21

I had a few things that I did spread out across a week. I will start with some easy stuff first. I added the under hood snorkel. It was a very tight fit over the body cutout. I am confident it is sealed even without a clamp. I plan on putting a clamp and pre filter on for the "just in case" moments.

I had to stretch the hose a bit and use a little heat gun to give me enough room for the install. Using large channel locks in reverse helped with the stretching. I used a little spray lube to help coerce the thing on. This is the hose I used;

Don't mind the wire mess. It's a work in progress and I have some more electrical to do and when done I plan on going back thru and trying to make a "harness" or wore loom it all together.

I installed a fire extinguisher using this mount;

While using this fire extinguisher ;

I installed a kolpin chainsaw mount as well;

https://amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000VVSRKI/?tag=sxsweb24-20

I am not excited about its placement but the mount is meant more for a temporary solution until I figure out a more/better mount location.

Lastly I installed a RAM tablet mount. I plan on putting in a PBR switch panel but for now the space will be taken up by the mount.

An easy, great, addition to your machine is some @RB3offroad door bushings! They make the sag disappear as if it were never there!

Another good addition to the door is a nice cup holder.

Just making some notes for future posts. I need some good time to sit and add to my build thread.

2x2 angle is 56 long. 3/4 inside each end,

3x3 angle with bracket 1 5/8 from inside for hole.

2 13" 1" flat for straps

Holes are all 1/2"

I installed a Viper 3121V under the seat. Very easy install. The range is OK but the siren is too quiet. Eventually when I do the switch panel I plan on moving the system behind the dash and installing a louder siren.

I was able to pick up a kiwi master bed liner as an Amazon Warehouse deal and paid with tax $78.04 for it. Left it out on the porch in the sun for a while and let the sun make it pliable, then laid it in the back and it looks great.

I ordered the same discounted bed liner and got one that probably fits a 500 or 700, about a foot too small. Someone else will probably get it, but I did put a note in the box when I returned it. I just ordered a 4x6 diamond plate rubber mat and cut it to size.

Isn't there any better options to mount it than hose clamp[s?

Yes, I replied to the original post. It seems like there should be a clamp that would work. The mount has clearance holes in it, but comes with hose clamps

I guess I am not understanding the question. The mount is universal. There are some machine specific mounts that can mount differently. The mount I used could be attached in different ways. This is just how I chose to attach it.

Yes. I was looking at them on Amazon. I want to start carrying one on my rig.
They typically come with hose clamps, but with the clearance hole in the mount, I just thought a clamp would be a better solution. But I haven't seen any threads on here with a clamp type mount vs the hose clamps

I will try to get some more pictures of it tonight because I think the hole you are referring to is aesthetic and putting a clamp thru it may interfere with how it works.

Ok, thanks. I was thinking of a flat head as it looks counter sunk. And then use a Honda clamp. The have a tapped hole that goes straight in towards the tube. But that may not be a good plan as the bracket looks like it's designed to marry up against the tube, so trying to use a clamp with a flat, might nit work well.

The ends are drilled with holes that would allow you to mount it flat to something so using the Honda clamps bolted to the mount would work
