Ran across this article that came out today, had read similar before but was too busy to post. How does this grab you for a sport SXS.

1000CC / 112 HP Naturally Aspirated / 5 Speed auto Clutch gearbox w/ Paddle Shifters / 17" Suspension Travel w/ fully adjustable FOX RC 2.5 Shocks / 78 MPH Top Speed / 13" Ground clearance / FACTORY Accessory 70% 1st Gear Reduction kit for crawling. Machine auto shifts to 1st on stop, Launch control - pull back both paddles rev to 10,500 RPM let go to dump clutch.

All-New Yamaha Sport Shift 5-Speed Sequential Shift Transmission
Yamaha breaks new ground with Yamaha Sport Shift, a sequential 5-speed manual transmission featuring Yamaha Chip Controlled Shift (YCC-S) technology. This system combines the power, durability and efficiency of a traditional manual transmission with an advanced automatic clutch system that replaces the foot-operated clutch pedal with sporty paddle shifters mounted to the steering column. Plus, a Launch System provides for thrilling take-offs.

Do I have you attention yet? How about you HONDA? Release the beast in hiding to answer this machine!

Honda really needs to step it up and give us a sport model. I think there are some of us that are holding out , in hopes they release one soon.

Yamaha is going to be releasing a new machine 9-6-17.........don't know if it's a sxs though!

Without the speed limiter it does 92 mph, it does 76 in 4th. I have 11,533 miles on mine. The $1,000 gear reduction kit reduces the top speed to 66 mph at 10,500 rpm. Stock you need to go at least 10 mph on a mild hill and over 15 mph on a steep hill or the motor will bog. The YXZ is a race track car that works OK in the dunes. Sales suck so there is a huge rebate on the 2016 and 2017 models. Looks like the 2018 models are the same. They need a wide ratio trans or a 6 speed with a super low gear. The gear kit reduces low gear 70%.

Yes the first review info I seen they had all the press out to Brimstone (Huntsville, TN) park 10 miles from me, all those had the gear reduction on the SS SE model and they could crawl at 3mph as a consensus of reports no slipping of clutch. OEM they are slipping clutches under 2K RPM (8-10 MPH) without the reduction.

Those Yamaha's we're kicking ass at the ORV Jam last weekend. After the Jam one was tearing around the sand hill. It was a beast!

Seen your YouTube video there sand drag in the P500, can you imagine ripping through those paddle shifters with 112HP instead of 27?

If Honda won't make a sport model and you want a sport model then buy the YXZ Yamaha. I have the pioneer 1000-5 because I need it for work too but if I wanted a sport model I would buy the Yamaha.

I'm thinking the same, but as @Chooglin mentioned, I'm waiting to see what Honda brings us. The Pioneer 1000 is no slouch and Honda is almost there already. Did you see the video of @Remington in the sand drags vs. a RZR 1000?

I did! Hehehehe..... Oh wait...I was living it! She moves pretty quick in sport mode, nice jumps of the line as well. Should have seen the looks on the RZR riders faces. Didnt think they they thought it could hang!

Here is the info on the gear reduction kit, this is how it should be done by factory offering. Info in the below pic.
