Im having to make new little brackets for the intake and exhaust stacks because the cage went down 3" in the back so the stacks wont bolt up anymore. Im just cutting them out, drilling the holes, and bolting the brackets to the stacks this weekend between the pieces of tubing that im eventually going to weld them to. I just dont feel like welding today. I'll do that next friday on my day off, then clean the new brackets up and paint them too.

Well thats it in a nutshell. My rendition of a chop top. Now next weekend i should be able to start my new thread: P500 roof build! Lol i just gotta weld in the new brackets for the stacks and finish the diagonal bars where they bolt behind the seats. But overall i love the new line of the roof. This was a pretty time consuming mod considering i picked the easiest way to do it, at least in my opinion. Btw, please forgive how dirty my p5 is. Instead of cleaning it like i shoulda been, i was cutting and welding lol. I hope yall enjoyed it! I'll update the last of this next weekend and then move on to my roof. Take it easy!

No prob chooglin! Thanks for the kind words! I hope it will help. I hope you have fun on the HM trails. I went with some guys from work about 6 years ago or so. We took our 4 wheelers up there in january of that year. A bunch of florida boys in the mountains of west virginia lol. We had a ball. We rented a cabin on a frozen river in gilbert, w.v. and we rode the trails to Mann, w.v. We were there about 3 days. Make sure you have new brake pads lol.

You didn't happen to stay at Hawks Cabins did you ? That's where we will be staying !

I changed my brake pads at the end of last year , so I should be good !

Im not sure of the name of the cabin. It was pretty close to town, it was 2 story i think with an outside stairwell to the upper floor, right on a frozen river, close to a bridge. We ate at a place called Billy Maes for breakfast every morning. You could drive the 4 wheelers on the road around town legally. There was a mom and pop italian place there that had killer calzones. This was in Gilbert, west virginia. We rode the trails to Mann, west virginia and we rode the 4 wheelers on the highway back to Gilbert at the end of the day. The towns cater to the 4 wheelers because sadly the mines closed down and the towns were hurting for money. It was a great time. We built a snowman on the trail somewhere in the mountains. Us being from florida none of us had ever built a snowman lol. A few of the group had never seen snow, and the first time they did they were riding 4 wheelers in it. I would love to go back one day. :)

Great job. Like the lower profile look. I might have to do the same if mine won’t fit into the hunting trailer. Won’t know until I get my 17 this week and put my tires on it. Mind you trailer is buried in the snow right now, so might be another month or more before I can check.
Anyways, thanks for sharing your build !!!

Thank you tflynn! I'll be finishing the last bit of the cage behind the seats this friday and possibly starting on my roof! This little p5 really impresses me every time i ride it. I think the p5 is the sxs equivelant of the old honda 300 fourtrax 4x4 4 wheeler, which many considere to be the best 4 wheeler ever made as far as reliability and power to weight ratio. I highly recommend a p5 to anybody thinking of buying a playtoy

Ok yall i got a little update on the cage chop. Ive been busy aligning the front end of my 4wd and working on a pontoon boat, finally was able to get to my p5 this afternoon. I finished the diagonal bars that go down behind the seat headrests. Its sandwiched between the seat back and my frosty beverage cooler where nobody sees it, so i didnt spend a ton of time on the smoothing and paint. I can always make it look pretty another time if it ever bothered me. I always ride with a seat back and a frosty beverage cooler, so i imagine it will never be seen lol. Sooooo this means i can start my roof build tomorrow! I also got a wild hair and took my doors off and the little locking knobs up top. I plan on making little form fitted metal plates to go in the little voids that are left behind from the spot the latch knobs used to be. Possibly with a metal pipe going from one to the other running under the dash so the passenger can have a grab bar to hold onto. I also welded in the new brackets that the intake and exhaust stacks bolt to. Anyway, heres some pics!
