I have been wondering why no one did this. Seems like something simple and it can be replaced years down the road when it does get messed up.
On my Rincon, I added a cell phone screen to help stop the scratches. That worked well when resell came.

I've never heard of using baby oil. Obviously it works, or you wouldnt be recommending it, but could you explain why baby oil? thanks.

i like this idea a lot... I'm searching for a deal on clear film. As much as I ride at night, I need to be able to see. I'm sure the tint would have other advantages if riding in the desert like @rocmar , in addition to offering scratch protection. The reflective tint would look awesome too...

I scratched my windshield really bad, I polished it out as much as I could with Novis polishing compounds, 1,2 and 3. When I got it polished out as much as I could it was still bad going into the sun. I put the lightest window tint I could get on the inside of the windshield. It helped a lot. The reason for putting it on the inside of the windshield was to protect the film of tint from being scratched up and torn when going through brush.

Ehart, did you find any deals? I spent just a few seconds looking for film online but only found "kits" which contain much more film than I will need.

I just ordered a half windshield and am considering putting a tint film on it to prevent scratches to the windshield. I have no experience with this, but I assume that when the film gets scratched I will be able to pull it off and replace it relatively easily?

Thanks! Bill

Sorry, but I didn't. I got distracted.... Have you considered using a light tint, instead of clear? I think that would look pretty cool. Walmart used to sell window tint, but I'm not sure if they still do. On a half shield, I'd think you could use a 35% or even 20% and it wouldn't cause problems...

Have you installed this on yours? If so, was it difficult to do and get all the bubbles out? Also, where can a person buy such a small amount? Thanks

Try your local glass company's, there is a clear film that can be added to glass/mirrors to make them (ansi a.17.1 )
Compliant
