The Cummins /Ram 6.7s that don’t run DEF are dogs. I had one and i never got above 12MPG empty. The later models that use DEF seem to be much more reliable.

My ‘17 F250 is a beast. More power and smoother than any prior truck I have owned.

I have owned several rams staring with a 98 and they were generally good trucks but the last two were piles of excrement. My ‘06 would eat a rear diff every 30-35k miles. And the ‘12 I had was a real disappointment power and mileage wise. I got rid of it after 10 months.

BTW I liked the 345 I saw but it was heavy. Saw one on the web that had an empty wt of 11.5K which would be doable with my 250 (don’t tell the weight police) but I am suspicious of that weight sticker.

The 321 is on my shortlist ... gotta get re-employed or hit the powerball first.

After much deliberation I think we are going to go with a class a gasser with a utility trailer. Love my 17 250 too but legally there are very few 5th wheel toy haulers that it can handle. You just get too close to the RAWR. Not worried about GVWR. Traveling with a kid in a motor home will hopefully be better as well. You can get a pretty nice used class A for about the same money as a 5th wheel.

I also like the fact that I can size my trailer to whatever toys We get into.

I will never own another dodge diesel. Nothing but problems. My fords have been the least amount of problems. My gmc has some, but the fuel mileage was a big difference in the older models. I think Ford has the fuel mileage figured out on the new 17 models. Not sure your wanting a truck that new.

I agree on the Ford fuel mileage, my '17 Super Duty 6.7 Powerstroke is getting a little over 19mpg empty at 65mph and a little over 11 pulling the toyhauler.

I’m leaning HEAVILY toward the Hyperlite line as well. The 36DSX13 is mighty tempting and towable by an older more economical 1-ton, it’s almost towable by a new ½-ton.

I would go for the 24HFS but the wife wants a separate garage, gotta keep momma happy.

So, how do you get (4) Pioneer 1000s moved with a place to sleep out of the elements, just do it the Redneck rich way. A 48' deckover gooseneck and mount a popup on the deckover. Not sure how well that tows at speed. LOL.

Looked at a Seismic 4113 yesterday. That may have been a big mistake! It was a very nice rig, but would require a new truck at 17,640 pounds dry - a bit much for my F250!

Or the 400HP cummins Volvo I posted above as well.
Only thing keeping me from buying it over the phone is the trans. The 1st gen Eaton was hit or miss I have read. There is piss all for mileage on it.

I know nothing about anything above a class 4-5 truck, just that I need a min of 4seats and Timmy’s rig LOOKS like a BAMF

I am attempting to do it on the cheap. A used diesel pickup around here is going to be minimum 30,000 if I can find one rated to tow 21,000lbs.
I figure I will jump up to a used transport truck with lots and lots of life left for less than I paid for my Pioneer.

I’m looking at a 15yo 1-Ton and a lighter Toyhauler. I’ve got it narrowed down but we have other things we also want so we’re prioritizing. A Class 8 would limit its usability for me, kinda large for a run to HomeDepot.

My wife went looking at park model trailers and came home with a 44ft toy hauler. Tow truck will not be my daily driver at all. probably use it 4-6 times a year. Our trailer sits at camp and we go every weekend in summer. That is why I can't stomach buying a pick up rated to tow it loaded. I would be in F450 territory.

You also don't live in the rust belt. Anything around me in the 10-15 price range, I would be concerned pulling my pioneer behind it due to rot.

Yeah I’ve avoided anything more than 200 miles north of me.
