It does tear... If I'm not mistaking @joeymt33 had one tear on his. I think they replaced it but none the less it did tear.

It was Joey. I was a die hard metal guy but plastic does have more advantages then not. Just like steel cable on winch after breaking a bunch I went to "plastic lol" and never looked back

Lmao, I'm beginning to think that you're just hard on stuff bro. Even though I've never broke a winch cable, I agree about the synth cable, or the vintage term "plastic" as you seem determined to call it. :D:D:D

There are advantages and disadvantages of both. I have UHMW arm guards and now have an aluminum skid. I went with the Aluminum skid based mostly off price (over 30% savings). That and the 5yr warranty. I won't have this machine for 5yrs but, it will give me an idea on what I want to go with on my next machine.

When I got mine it was only 70 more if I remember right. I'm surprised as hell but I like it so far.
Hey Monte did you say you had skid waiting to go on

If you plow with a cable it breaks a bunch, so does the rope but tying a knot around the hook in a pile of snow is so much easier than re-clamping a cable with a ratchet while trying to find my dropped nuts. ;)

Sure do CP, been setting in the garage for a few months. My OEM's look like hell! I've got the SSS UHMW.

Ah gotcha. Never have to plow snow in OK, and I have a tractor at my other place that gets good snow.

Yep I got S&S, the guy makes them out of his shop in KY. I already had UHMW front A Arm guards but after seeing the S&S skid I wish I would've found them sooner!
Awesome.. I've looked at all of them. I figure if I do have a problem it's better that we're in the same state. I'll be ordering soon if santa doesn't bring them.

Didn't realise that S&S is aluminum, I definitely prefer the UHMW and the Teflon like attributes that it has for sliding over rock. Depending on the nature of the rock, sharp and jagged rock can dig into aluminum, and hit hard enough and 3/16" aluminum will be denting.
My thought is if it's a problem (loud, too much friction) I'll skim it with a thinner uhmw.. like the bottom of an air boat.

Hell yeah, that would be cool!
