Went deer hunting Monday evening, came back with a full load of hogs.

Got stuck crossing a slough from the extra weight with no phone nor flashlight. Rear rack was nearly submerged with the exhaust gurgling under water, and I was thankful I snorkeled and extended all lines. I was a mile from camp and the Winch cable wasn’t long enough to get to a tree. Thankfully I had a 15’ tow strap that gave me 3 inches to spare to get around the closest tree.

I got wet, but I got out!

Bungee corded rear panel up for more engine heat. Rolled up some foam packing like a U shaped towel roll to seal pathway.

It's fine to do that. You'll get away with it a couple times, just watch it and when it begins to break down, replace it. They're not expensive so replacing is really fine as well.
You can wash it in Dawn dishwashing Liao& Pat it dry then re oil. Mild & works great.

s***s and giggles? Or were you having issues?
I have been having overheating issues on and off for a while. It started at the takeover and me and @jak9922 took my thermostat out and he showed me the bleeder valve under the seat for getting air out of the coolant system. It did decent the rest of takeover. Over the months after takeover it would overheat now and then and I started noticing steam coming out of the exhaust stack and I would lose water in the cooling system, so I started thinking it might be a blown head gasket. There is no water in the oil and no oil in the water, just losing water and the exhaust stack steaming. The engine can get boiling hot also and the radiator would be cool to the touch because of an air pocket between them. When I took it apart I didnt exactly see a messed up gasket, but the exhaust valve was clean and the intake valve was dirty, so i guess I was right. I didnt notice and cracks or anything in the valve seat area. I have a truck that i replaced the heads on because it was doing the same thing, but it had cracks in the valve seat area and was passing water out the exhaust as steam through the exhaust valve. I just figured since I have the P5 apart I would put new rings on it also and give it a hone job and also rebuild the waterpump. :)

Got the engine all put back together and got the seat frame back in today. Tomorrow after work I will start running the wires back to where they are supposed to go. I'll work on it little by little after work and knock it out saturday. Heres a few pics.

Well what I did to mine today after I got home from work was plug in all the wires that I had to unhook from doing the topend job and to my excitement it started right up and purred like a kitten! Yaaaaay meee! I was happy to see that it did not steam or smoke out of the exhaust, which was the whole reason I tore it apart, and the overheating issue. Then again, I didnt have the cooling system full of water and antifreeze either because a lot poured out during the teardown. So maybe when I top off the cooling system it will go back to steaming again, but we'll see.
