Really glad I swapped out the 2500 lb winch to a 3500. Looks better and worked better clearing trees from trail. Just posting for someone thinking about a 2500. Wireless remote add-on came in handy and saved many steps back and forth working the tree line. Best $15 spent. Hot day here, glad I packed plenty of water.

I did a little more work on the P5's trailer, by adding a hasp lock to the tailgate to keep it that much more secure. I also had the two jerry can holders welded together for strength and rigidity then got them welded in place and painted to match the big tool/storage box. Also tidied up the wiring more under the hood of the p5.

Today I took everything out for a test drive at highway speeds. Everything handled nicely and I went and filled all my tanks and cans with ethanol free gas. With the added weight it rode smooth as silk. The Erickson wheel chocks and straps worked great.

CHANGE YOUR OIL !
The 2017 P500 was new in November 2016. Dealer changed the oil on the first maintenance around 150 miles. I changed the oil today at 730 miles. It was easy. The old oil was very dirty... too dirty for my liking. I put in the Honda oil. I'm going to do the next change in 500 miles. I'll probably try synthetic next change.

I'll throw in a few bad images of my dirty machine.

Little Red enjoyed putting miles on the P5.

Took a different angle at a snorkel. Saw one offered by Warrior Riser for $150 and liked the idea of a double stack, would have had to alter it though, don't have much room with the toolbox on the back. Have only seen one go up the bar like this but it was a single, @jak9922 I think.
Went with two 1 1/2" stacks making sure not to choke down the 2" anywhere. Got it all dry fit today, will glue it up and paint it tomorrow.
Walked HD looking for something rigid to use for screens, these fit perfect and will glue in, between tips and last 90's.

Heeyy... That looks sweet! What a cool idea! I'm gonna go see if I have clearance for that set up on my P1000-3. Me likey. Especially with stainless strainers. Can stuff them with pre-filter without gettin sucked up. Thanks for sharing!

Today saw the fire extinguisher mounted and wrapped the driver's side shoulder/arm bar in pipe insulation as well as attached a strip of horse stall matting to the box in case I hit it with the winch hook driving onto the trailer.

@100Acre Man, you killed it
With that trailer setup. I think I'm going to go that route for hunting season with my trailer. Big box up front to hold all my bags and gear with the wheel chocks for the pioneer. I had a camper shell on my last truck but I think that big box on the trailer will hold everything.

@100Acre , looks like you are ready for a good trip. Safe travels and keep us posted. A lot done in a short time. Ask the Honda dealer to sponsor you, LOL.

Hondas and guns.
What could be better. Did a 50 km ride. The 16 and 17 yr olds took to the P5 pretty well. I was relegated to the atv. Easier to text from as shotgun on the SxS.

Neither of them had operated a SxS. We went slow.

Installed EZ power steering. What a nice unit!
Had a short test run and my rotator cuff is loving it ..

I had to relocate my heater higher and more to the front for clearance.
Apparently it has a high power draw of 220 watts so im putting in a switch on the dashboard to cut off the power to steering when i have to use the winch..

On the ez steer, 220 watts is max motor rating, and not a constant draw, no where near that when driving. Only drawing depending on how much strain it's under. No battery problems here.
