What fuel do you run?

What should we run? Non-ethanol or ethanol, octane boost, ethanol stabilizer. I'm will fill up soon. I have 26 miles on and am below half near quarter....... I have been mindful to shut off as I disembark for chores regardless of time. I assumed I would get to near 100 miles a tank. Any thoughts?

I use 93 so as it sits and the gas loses octane there is more left.

I run 91 with stabilizer. Hate the ethanol fuel.

Amen, I use trufuel ethanol free premix in my 2cycle motors there is a NOTICABLE difference in power and smoothness.

I use the same stuff. Right now it's with my ice auger. And yes runs great. One problem I hope I don't run into is the gen on my toy hauler that says DO NOT USE GAS WITH ETHANOL. Well that tough now that all stations where I live have it now. But the higher the octane the less ethanol that can cause problems. But I will be adding a few cans of sea foam to the tank.

So far I have been through about 4 tanks of regular 87. My next tank will be 93.
I do not know where a station is that sales non ethanol.

So, whats the deal with NON Ethanol?

Less corrosive, no water, less gunk in fuel system. MORE POWER!!!!!

I'm at 200 and some odd miles. All on 87 normal pump gas. I haven't had any problems yet, but then again I don't let mine sit too long.

If you put gas with ethanol in any small engines do not leave it in. Or if you have no choice be sure to use a ethanol treatment stabilizer and over do it with the stabilizer. Ethanol raises hell on small engines. It will eat up fuel lines and plug up carbs like crazy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't our Pioneers EFI? That being the case, it isn't as much a concern for us. Our biggest concern would be the relatively short life span of ethanol fuel.

Ethanol still contains water and alcohols that degrade metal, rubber, and generally cause havoc on engines of all sizes when left sitting, small engines are affected more due to the crud build up being a larger percentage of the passageways opening size in their small parts.

Also less powerful, gallon to gallon pure ethanol only has @60% of the potential energy of pure gas. So E85 has 94% of the power of pure gas, E70 only has 86% but when fuel mileage is calculated E85 gets 25-30% less mpg and E70 45-60% less mpg, mainly because a drive train is optimized for a certain power output range, (final gearing, trans gearing, tire sizes) fuel mileage is severely affected using Ethanol mixes because of the power output loss.

My TL for example gets 24-26Hwy with E10 which it the greatest it is spec'd to use, with pure gas I get 30-32hwy.

That's good info ohana! Thanks for educating me a little more on this. I didn't realize it the difference was that substantial. Fortunately, there is a place near me where I can get pure gas for about the same price as E10. I've been thinking about starting to get gas for all of my small engines there, now I will be starting.

No prob, I learned a lot when I had to rebuild and re-equalize all 6 carbs on my Valkyrie, I swore (Many colorful words! I only have a 4 carb synch gauge) and promised myself never again, I carry stabil on the Valk and try to get pure gas whenever possible in all my vehicles. Corn gas is a pathetic replacement for Dino gas.

Yeah it's use as low grade fuel does raise prices of quite a few products other than corn on the cob.

Running it in a vehicle that gets driven on a regular basis isn't a big deal because it gets burned through fast enough. It's when the fuel sits and does not have stabilizer on it. Fuel with ethanol can go bad in as little as 30 days and start causing problems.
