I don't get it? I can get 250,000 out of a gas burner, that I run the dog out of, the up keep is a LOT less than a diesel. Yet I see there are all kinds of fans for the diesels. The only way I would own another one, is if I could afford to trade before road side assistance expired! Had a 1980 Scout II with a Nissan turbo in line six (Gutless wonder) and a late 80's F350 Ford with the IH bread truck motor, the only thing I could count on was being stranded in cold weather, carried extra filters and fuel to prime filters, road side and all that crap, been there done that! I ran all the recommended fuel treatments and ran winter grade diesel. Never again will I own a diesel other than a tractor, back hoe and trac hoe! Why is it a Case back hoe will start without a block heater?
80’s??? I think that diesels have made some advancements in the last 30 years Smitty. The 360 gas burner in my 2015 2500 is a dog. I need something that can drag 12,000 around like it’s a dish rag.

I truly believe a gas truck of today will be a better tow rig than the late 90s diesels. Way more h.p. and the same torque or greater. Better transmissions. Gas has come along ways both the ford 6.2 and ram 6.4 are very good pulling engines in the 2500 series trucks. Both over 400 lb ft.

I would tend to agree with. Not to mention everything around the engine is better too... better transmissions, brakes, frames, suspensions, etc.

Don't take this the wrong way Smitty but saying you won't ever buy another Diesel because yours from 30 years ago let you down would be like me saying I'll never own another Honda ATV because my 98 fourtrax 300 was too short on power. Times have changed. I saw plenty of gassers stranded on the side of the road when temps were below zero. This winter my truck started for 2 weeks straight in below zero temps all while it wasn't plugged in. Several times it started when it was 15-20 below zero with no heater. It will do it, but I'd much rather have my motor "warmer" when starting it. Its just good for the motor. I did the same with my gas vehicles.

There are a lot of diesel vehicles that hit the 350,000 - 500,000+ mile range. Not near as many gassers hit this range.
They will tow a heavy load far better than any gasser
They will get better fuel mileage while doing it

There are plenty of Pro's and Con's to be made about Diesel Vs. Gas just don't hold to tightly to the days of old. Today's vehicles are much different.
I agree, but I don't own a Polaris either, HA!

Extend the bed and put a longer tool box in the rear end and wa law you now have your enclosed sleeper, HA! I've been thinking about an enclosed trailer as well, would work out great for me to haul and sleep in.

Yeah, that’s roughly what my 6.0 is. And a dog for pulling.
I had an 07 Chevy 2500 with the 6.0 your correct it was a dog for pulling. But they are a pretty solid motor, it was the only thing solid on it. But they get it done. I traded it in for a 12' 1500 crew hemi. Talk about night and day powerwise

Ok? HP? The 14 I had GM 1500 (RIP) would pull 4500 lbs in cruse control 70 mph? What does your camper weigh?

4500lbs might as well be a feather on a string. A toy hauler with side-by-side in is going to start close to 8000 pounds and go up from there.

Don't know about a feather, but another 3500 lbs would defiantly weigh in, just saying my GM 14 327 cubic inch small block would pull in cruse control. The Yota will not and has more hp and torque???????

Correct, the only time I complain about my truck is when I am towing. But that’s fairly often, so that’s the reason I’m going to change to a diesel. BTW, Thanks for your input on this subject Plumber.

Take extra shoes for the diesel pumps and throw them in the bed before you get back into the cab, HA!

Correct, mine is 10K and even on a level freeway bucking a wind, it’s difficult to hold 70, and then there’s all the 18 wheelers on the roads these days that are delivering all the s*** I need that keep getting in my way, lol.
