P1000 Wheel/Offset Help for P1000

I was wondering if someone could educate me as to the standard offset on the p1000 stock wheels. What I'm wondering specifically is how adding aftermarket wheels would affect the width in both front and rear of the vehicle. The wheels I'm looking at are ITP with offsets 5+2 front and rear.

On my P500, I added these wheels and it widened it out just a touch, but not as much as the 3.5+3.5 MSA wheels would have. It was actually just about right. On a P1000, would it have about the same effect front and rear? And finally, what do the 5 and the 2 specifically mean in the offset 5 +2?

Lots of questions, just hoping to get an idea of which offset I would put on a P1000 to widen it just a hair but not too much.

Guys on here have it to a science but to my understanding stock rims are close to 6 in front 8 in back as far as width stock tires come 9 in front 11 in back but most aftermarket rims you like are gonna be 7 and most tires 10and the machine tracks nice stock but without the function of rotating front to back most folks like to have that option. The center of the rim is not always the point where lugs tighten. The 3.5 is center of rim of a 7. On say a 5+2 then 5 inside the hub 2in of the rim stick out. 5+2 is close to stock a touch wide and back tires track a little narrow from front.

I am using an ITP 5-2 wheel. I'll share a pic or two below. I think the front width is 66" and the rear was roughly 2" more narrow. I added 1" wheel spacers to the rear to even it out. I'll have to measure the width again to be sure but that's close.

Where did you get your wheel spacers? Having trouble finding 1" spacers with a 12mm bolt and 1.5 thread pattern.

Where did you get your wheel spacers? Having trouble finding 1" spacers with a 12mm bolt and 1.5 thread pattern.

I bought teryx spacers and then bought adapters for the lug nuts.

I bought lug nuts like these at O'rielly's

Then I bought adapter like these so I could use the same nuts for OEM wheels with a ball seat and ITP wheels with a taper seat.

Off topic one ? cause i did a search and didn't find answer. Where do yall order brake pads for the 1000?

I also would like to know a good place to buy brake pads. Even though I haven't worn any brake pads out. I would like to throw some in my toolbox to have just in case I need them while on a long ride.

All I can say is that Joey, you are the man. Very impressed with your innovation and build. Thanks for sharing all of your ideas.

One question- when you say your 5-2 offset wheels made the rear 2" more narrow, did you mean 2" more narrow than stock, or 2" more narrow than your front with the aftermarket wheels? I'm thinking you meant 2" more narrow than your front with aftermarket wheels. If it is more narrow than it was in stock form, that might surprise me.

A 5-2 wheel is 7" wide. It's 5" in board and 2" outboard of the hub. The OEM wheels are close to 6-1.

That clears everything up, thanks. So in reality, the rear wheels tock offset is probably a little less than the front? Or was it more narrow just because you used the same size tire all the way around where stock uses larger in the rear?

The rear track with is a little more narrow because the suspension isn't is wide I guess. The hubs are more narrow in the rear, not sure why.

Makes sense because the 11" wide rear tires come out over the edge of the wheels making it wider than just the edge of rims. They probably do that to get same width front and back with the stock tires being wider in the rear.

Thanks, that really helps me. I will probably go with 10" tires all the way around so I will probably have to do something similar to what you did with the wheel spacers to get similar width from front to rear.

That's a good idea. I like having the same wheel and tire all the way around.

You can rotate them easily and one spare works on all four corners. However, I would like to have a 11" or 12" wide rear tire.
