P1000 1000-5 swing away bed extender

I almost always travel solo. I like when stuff has a secure place and is as good looking as that is!

My guess is, it would have to be integrated with the stock bumper location for lateral support.

Anyone with a 1000-5 understands the need for more storage when the rear seats are up. It attaches to the cage with 4-bolt clamps and swings open to use the dump bed. Also removes in seconds for those short toy hauler garages utilizing 4 quick release pins.

Just shipped one to Mount Pearl, NL. Fedex and UPS were right at $350 USD. My customer had a company transport it for much less.

Please note that all dimensions depend on where the heims are adjusted, but see below for the approximate number.

1- 16 1/2" between the seats and top bar.
2- 1/2" between the rack and tailgate.
3- There is one 3/4" tube across the taillight but has very little effect.
4- Please see pics of the quick release pins.
5- I have built 15 and just sold #13. I have yet to hear any negative reviews.

I have plans to do one. The problem I have is getting a machine. If there is someone that would let me prototype from there machine I would give them a smoking deal on a rack.

I would think you could put two rear bars for 1000-5 then bend and change so bed will still dump plus protect bed walls

what is the distance between the tailgate when closed and the rack? also the width between the upright brackets on the tailgate? does this require to have the tailgate level? what is your shipping price to wi?

There is approximately 1/2" between the rack and the tailgate when closed, and 34" on the inside of the uprights. Yes the tailgate must be level and I include cable extensions. Shipping shipping is generally $75-$100 depending on configuration.

I had Dirt Road Fab do a little custom rack for me based off his current offerings. I wanted to be able to haul a cooler with the tailgate up and this is what he came up with. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the rack. Ordered it on a Friday and he had it built by the end of the weekend ready for powder coating on Monday,. I had it in my paws the next Monday. So many possibilities with the rack. Here's a few pics of it.

That is a nice looking rack! I really like the functionality of it. If you do not mind, how much did he charge you to make that?

He Charged me $575.00 and We didn't have to deal with Shipping. The main driver of having the rack made is to be able to keep the back window panel down and tailgate up to minimize dust when we go out on the trails. We used to just strap the cooler in the back but we lost some sandwiches and my wife was pissed. Hopefully this way we can keep it tied down a lot better lol. Heres a pic on how we rolled in Moab last trip.
