Hi guys. I have a 2016 1k5 and I’m upgrading the tires to 28” from stock. Still have the stock rims. Was wondering if there is an advantage to going to a 14” of 15” rim from the stock 12”?
Also I really like the swamp lites tires as a versatile “all around” tire. I do mixed rock and mud riding, any input on those tires would be great or any suggestions on another type of “do all” tire.
Thanks

More sidewall give with the smaller rim will ride better off road. 14" wold probably give you the most options on utv tires. 15" would give u more options on truck tires. Blackwater evos are a good all around tire.

Any good 28" options for a 12" rim?

There aren’t many options I like so I’m gonna bite the bullet and get some 14” rims. Also gonna get the 2.5” highlifter lift kit to increase my options even more. It looks really easy to install.

Most folks say 27" tires and smaller, use 12" rims...over 27" tires use 14".......15" rims for truck tires

Also a friend put some 28” mega meyhams on 12” rims and the side wall looks too tall. It looks like your grandpa’s atv tire. Lol

Just asking because I'm not sure I need to lift and the cheap and easy would be keep the stock 12" and put some 28" on next. Well unless I buy some Camoplast tracks!

I have the 28/10/12 tensor regulators all the way around on mine, ride is smoother than stock and the stiffer sidewall makes high speed runs safer, but they are not mudders…

I’m running 28x10x14 terrabites on stock wheels with a HL lift and fox shocks. Ask yourself this question... do you have ANY plans or possibilities of adding aftermarket a arms? Otherwise and still.. what @snuffnwhisky said.

Is the rim offset the same for the front and rear rims and are the rims the same width?

27s on 15 rims. Still have plenty of sidewall and change psi for ride as needed. Bigger diameter tire gives smoother ride over obstacles

On this subject of tires & wheels I have a question about the difference in size for the front & rear wheels, the front is more narrow.
I need new tires! Currently have the stock steels but wanting a 28" versus stock 27" tall tires. When buying new rims do I need / should I buy a more narrow front versus rear? Have installed the HIghlifter 2.5" lift. Hoping to not have to figure out some wild off set to avoid rubbing or compromise the carrying capacity of the machine.
For the record liking the Tusk Terrabite, 8 ply DOT Radial. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.

Nope.. 28x10x12 or 14 will be fine.. the only thing you really lose with the narrower rear tire is some
Load rating.. but going up to an 8ply should make most of that up.

I just put 28x10x14 Reptiles on mine. No rub. Seems seems 2+” taller than with the stock tires on. Gonna adjust my front alignment this week. The toe out looks like it would chew up the new fronts.

I have some 28” Motoclaws that are DOT rated mounted on some 15” rims. I like the look and the feel, but there much better off road on trail. When they go out I’ll probably get some BF mud terrain’s for better versatility on and off the road.

I have the HL 2.5” lift and HL rear A-arms and am running 28x 9.5 front and 28x11 in rear on 14 “ wheels.
