I’m looking to purchase my first p500. I’ve found a 2015 with 177 hrs for $6500. May be able to negotiate a bit. I am also considering a new unit. Is the auto of the new units worth it or are the 2015’s with paddle shift only worth the savings. New unit is $7795 before fees.

The paddles work great ! I prefer them although I don't have an auto trans in mine I have a RZR that is auto (belt drive) and shifting is much better . IMHO . Auto option would be ok but I sure wouldn't pay extra for it .

Get the 2015. I came from a rincon that I kept in auto all the time and don't miss it.

Use my 2017 in manual 90%, mostly on hills, AT on flats. Best thing IMO is that it automatically downshifts when slowing down even in Manual mode....Only have to upshift. Lots of other good posts with Search feature. Either way, its a good machine, even better when added power steering for my tight riding terrain. May depend on how long you plan on keeping it. $9k new with roof OTD and would do it again.

Wives... Back in ‘87 I had parked my manual Ford truck in front of my wife’s car. I was away on a job and she had to go to work. She phoned my boss and had him come and move my truck so she could get out of the driveway. That was the last manual I never owned.

I love the auto personally. its great for the faster driving like roads and flat fields. When I am cruising on hilly tight trails lower speed stuff I use manual 3rd gear mostly. Its best of both worlds. I even switch it from auto to manual while I am driving along if I want it to hold in a particular gear and then switch it back into auto. Works amazing..

I have the manual-however the wife would like the auto-given your mentioned prices I would buy the new one! That is really great pricing I would not accept the 6500 for my used one....

I guess it would depend on how you are going to use your p500. During the 5 weeks and 625 miles of driving on rocky roads and trails in Idaho and Colorado hunting I never used the auto function once. The paddle shifting worked great. It's nice to have the auto function I suppose, guess my wife will like it. However, it's like any other addition, something else to go wrong. For me personally, and my use, not having the auto function would've been fine.
