Want to thank all the guys that put together the part numbers and how-to's for the trail-side tierod repair (@lee , @JACKAL , and others I'm forgetting I'm sure) . We were able to get him back up and running in about 45 minutes from start to finish with neither of us having ever changed one. Happened right after we got off Dragon's Back.

Here's a quick picture that Jackal posted a year or so ago that has all the part numbers for those following along at home:

That was a good one! Not sure I’ve seen one laid back that far without additional damage. Glad you all were able to get back out quickly

That's what I said! Couldn't believe that was the only damage once I was able to get turned around and put some light on it. I was leading coming back down and saw him stop abruptly. I thought maybe he was thirsty and stopped for a beer!

The Short Bus needed some beefier tires for our upcoming trip to the mountains. The stock 4 ply Big Horn 2.0's survived their first adventure to Royal Blue, but I didn't want to risk it since I'm bringing the wife this time. I went with 5+2 offset Tusk Teton beadlocks in smoke with ITP Blackwater Evo's in 28x10x14 all the way around. Total cost from Rocky Mountain ATV was right at $1050 delivered.

I need to add a 1" spacer to the rear to square it up.

What did this do for your overall width? I'm trying to stay at stock width due to the 64" max on our nearby trails.
Do you run a lift? Do the 28" rub at all?

They are just cheap ones from Home Depot. I wanted them to break if it was really in a bind instead of ripping the bumper off or pulling through. I've winched off of these numerous times now and they show no signs of deformation to the rings/brackets or the bumper.

Home Depot 1 1/2" D-Ring with Bracket

The biggest thing is adding some extra material on the backside of the bumper where you are installing these. I've got 1/8" thick steel plate behind that entire area where it mounts.
Thanks!

No lift, no forward arms, and I don't rub at full lock or compression. Evo's run smaller though (unless you run 32 psi) so YMMV if you run a different tread. My buddy's 28" Terrabites rub on his Trail Armor UHMW skid so he had to trim it some. As for width, I'll try and remember to check for you when I get home, but I want to say I'm at an inch wider on either side (so 66") in the front with the wider wheels and offset.

You'll like the ITP EVOS! Im trying out the ITP Terra Hooks right now, they survived the Colorado ride, haven't rode in much mud, so thats still to be proved, there not a mud bogging tire though!

Glad it helped you out. It’s always best to see it done once or twice but....
I need to get busy with the follow up of how to drive with out bending tie rods.
@JTW is helping me with that one (that’s why it’s never going to happen). :D

That would be great if you don’t mind!
I’ve been looking at the same wheels you have and 28” terrabites. I don’t have a full skid plate and just added fox shocks so I may be ok. Worst case, I can add the a-arms.
Your setup has a nice aggressive look with those wheels and tires. Looks like you gained some clearance!

Just checked for you, 66" from outer edge of each tire

@aauman88

Quick update on the ModQuad eBay skid - it held up great! I still need to add some more drain holes along the frame rails, but other than that it took everything I bounced it off of like a champ.
