I’ve had shop do oil/air filter changes in the past, mainly because it conveniently coincided with a damn recall fix. Anyway went to change out air filter and one of the bolt heads on the lid is stripped. Anyone know part number for this bolt? I’m apparently bad at googling because I can find it...

Go to Ron Ayers or partzilla and look under oem parts for Honda. U can find it there.

Thanks all, got what I needed and some extra fasteners while I was at it since those basically keep the whole machine together...

I installed the under seat storage on my new 1000-5, one of the 5mm hex bolts stripped out. Damn thing must have been torqued in there to 100 ft/lbs. Put a stripped screw removal tool in the drill, tried to remove, broke the damn thing off. Will have the dealership deal with it when I get to 100 miles and take it in for service.

I swear it’s actually a 4.9mm hex...

I am getting fed up with Honda... I was going to check the air filter, and the middle bolt on the air box lid by the front seat is stripped!!! Now I have to remove the whole air box to get the bolt out... It is one thing after another with my 1000... Guess I’m going to cut a slot in the bolt with a dremel and use a flat head to back it out.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0872VFX8N/?tag=sxsweb24-20 this worked for me with out removing the box
I ordered it, but probably won’t be able to hold off till Sunday for it to get to me. But at least I will have it for next time. I’m going to put grease on all the threads of the lid bolts and only snug them a little bit. I also ordered all new bolts... I won’t be back home till Saturday, so it’s eating on me that I can’t be there fixing it!

When you say use it correctly, what does that mean? How could I do it incorrectly? I have never used one.

Ooh I was thinking, and maybe I can get to the bolt without taking the air box out if I take the seat back off... then I could dremel a slot in the head of the bolt where it’s at.

Well I got the bolt out... But cracked the air box lid. I ordered a new one, and am going to grease the threads on all the bolts. Also am going to use a torque wrench on them. Honda says 3.7 ft lbs on the bolts, which is nothing... They were definitely over tightened.
