I've always rented from outfitter traveling out of country with guns always presents issues. They rent really nice shotguns for about 50 bucks a day. The high volume shooting beats the heck out of a shotgun. A 3 day hunt you could shoot 6000 to 8000 rounds. The bird boys load your gun a count your kills. Most kills I have had is 1500 in one afternoon. It's is a awesume experience normally 6 hunts over 3 days. First class lodging, meals and service. The two most costly parts is the airline tickets and ammo. Ammo runs about 12 bucks a box and the airline tickets are around 2500 bucks. A hunt typically will run you about 6k complete. I've been twice and going again 1st week of Feburary this year. I recommend you take a kitty pad for your shoulder, shooting gloves and some moisture wicking shirts. Be sure and pack lite they will wash your close daily. Remember Córdoba is equal the southern U.S. on lag and lon opposite the equator so our late winter is late summer there.

I do plan to rent guns. I think when you rent a gun you really get two guns. One is being loaded while you shoot the other.
Apparently the rules for getting a gun in have changed and you have to see a consulate.
Besides, My shotgun cost $1400. I don't want to take it down there and wear it out.

I'm thinking of going in August when it is cooler.

I have been, first trip I took guns it was a pain. My suggestion is to just rent two. I had a blast day 3 I joined the 3000 club (3000 in one day). May want to buy a good fitting, thin shoulder pad. Its not so much the recoil that got me the first time but the friction caused a blister, annoying but preventable.

I would think an under armor shirt with an over shirt would rid you of that

Kilo427 Who was your outfitter? 3000 in one day sounds like it was well worth the trip. I'm planning on going back again in July but would like to try a different outfitter.

Welcome @stepmcm.
I've been wanting to go for years and I've finally decided to pull the trigger.
I'm interviewing outfitters and getting references.

@Gator 4 Seasons Adventures Argentina I have been about 5 times and always with this outfitter in Santiago Del Estero. It is a very long trip with multiple plane changes from the U.S. I would prefer Cordoba dove hunt. Direct flights out of Miami I believe. I haven't been since 2007 though.

Thanks @stepmcm
I will check them out.
Our plans are still developing. Looks like a combo Ducks, Doves, and Fly Fishing.

A friend and checked into one a few years ago. A fellow had won the hunt and couldn't go so he was selling it. With the airfare, ammo and small stuff it wasn't worth it to us. I'm sure it would've been a hoot though.

3000 birds if you never miss at $12 a box for ammo is $1440.

My business partner went a couple years ago and killed some insane amount of birds. I will ask him where he went. He rented and said the ammo was the most expensive part of the whole trip.

Ammo was $18 - 20 per box when I went. But you don't go that far to limit shooting either!!!

And that's why ammo is $18-$20 a box.
They know you will pay.
