that has a tach input but it may be a selection once you get the distructions, default to auto read where you don't hook that up and if it doesn't read then select to use the tach input

Well, I have the one Neo sent in my cart. I can buy any one you guys want to see me try out. I have very little actual knowledge so this conversation is nice to see happening. Like I said, we are about to get between seasons here and should have enough time before I dig into maintenance on stuff for warmer weather.

What year is your machine @OleRed 18? I don't think it will make much of a difference on some of the wiring. But I think the lighting circuits may have changed after 16.

One thing to watch is a neutral safety switch of some sort. When these first came out a gentleman in my little town put one on his manual transmission pickup. One morning he pushed the button and proceed to spit his morning coffee all over the place while he watched out his front window, his truck lurching down the street. I don't think it hit anything fortunately but his story was his wife left it in gear. I think he disconnected it pretty soon after.

The 1000 won't really move under it's own power in gear.
It will not start in gear either, unless your foot is on the brake. Most systems look for the brake input to tell them the key is in the ignition and the driver is ready to take over.
In theory, if your machine somehow starts in gear, if you get in and press the brake without the key at the on/run position, the autostart will kill the engine.

Ok-- garage cleaning tonight. 12v electric bin of goodies will come off the shelf and onto the bench. I will wait until tomorrow to buy anything. Right now the viper one is in the cart that Neo sent.

would just wire the big wire 6 pin and ground on h1 and see if it works, if not you may have to wire the tach, second ign would be heat on a car you can run lights or leave it open you primary ign you wire to the ign of the utv then that would be like turning the key on
