It could be that the Honda 3speed is akin to a belt in that it's perfectly fine for moderate work, play.
A buddy of mine bought a P7; he'll likely never find the tranny wanting in his usage (couldn't talk him into T23!).

I think the P700 is the exception The 3 spd tranny takes you back 30yrs never understood the rational of a 3 spd tranny when the auto industry is going to 6 spd and higher. My neighbour has a P500, we can go anywhere in that thing. I one upped him and bought a P700-4, I had that for a year and moved up to the P1000-5. The p700 is Hondas ugly duckling in my opinion. When you put tracks on it the only thing it does well is burn fuel. As others have said either 500/520 or P1k
I agree the P700 is not the best. I sold mine within a year and bought a P1000. I agree it seemed under powered going up long hills. The P700 is for people who want something in between a golf cart and a p1000.

I have a family member who just bought a new club cadet with all the bells and whistles. Think they spent about 9k. It rides horrible. Would take a p700 over it any day of the week.

Don't regret selling my 700/2 and am thinking aobut teh 520 rather than the ATV style. I still have my Recon but it's too small for any serious trips in AZ, ID or WY. Life should be simplier...but it ain't!!
Holy cow! This thread was a year ago. Had to go back and re read it to know what your talking about 😂

Thanks for letting me play!!

I'm in AZ fighting the County for building permits. Let's see...July to December and all I have is a Septic tank...while important it's only the start (or the end depending upon how you view it.)

You in Pinal county? Apparently, you need a permit here to piss...

Isn't interesting how complex and expensive the government has made life.

I was reading this thread like the first post was today 🤔. Anyway if anyone is debating what to get I'd do this..
If you need 4 seats get the 700/4 or 1000. If you don't need 4 seats get a 500/520 and put Walker Evans Shocks on it , Power steering and if a 500 built a dump bed for it. You won't be disappointed!

Mohove 20 miles North of Kingman on 55 acres....Their government is created in the image of Federal.

Instead of making things easy for folks to move here. Took me 3 days to get a permit in ID and 10weeks for justthe septic here....don't get me started...

Don't seem concerned about where you piss but are particular about how far my travel traileris from the septic dump point...guess the importance of whether you do #1 or #2 varies from county to county. I'm hoping to understand the significance as time goes on.

Bought the place on 3 July this year and still don't have an address...at least Idaho bills can't find me yet.
