They now want 3 forms of ID if you use cash. This is an addition to the original post. I was being sarcastic as cash becomes a thing of the past. people too eager to go cashless without thinking it through. Sorry for any confusion

I had my FFL when I lived in Kennewick. I’ll say that I had the most complaints out of everything I sold, was the compact Kimber. Long story short it was the “tight tolerance” that people speak of. I think people mistake “tight tolerance” to “compact mechanisms” like they mistakenly refer to “muzzle flip” as “recoil.”

Making a micro or a compact 1911 obviously requires reducing the size of the components. One of them being the angle of your feed ramp. This is the issue most of my clients had. Failure to feed. It’s not that it’s a bad product, heck Kimber is a very quality brand. Coming from a machining background, I could see why some of those were failing. A few of the guys who kept their compact limbers found some companies back east that would polish the internals and feed ramp making the micros much more reliable.

Personally I think it depends on how you decide to carry, which determines what you should carry. I’ve been through Iraq and I’ve been through Seattle. I knew going through Iraq what dangers there was and to carry loaded. Expecting a firefight. I knew going through Seattle, the threat of a firefight was far less, and that I have a %1 chance of being drawn on with a gun. I personally, Israeli carry. I believe if I’m going to be shot first, in the states, it’s an occurrence beyond my control. Statistically you are more likely to be present (general location) of a gun altercation. To me, that means I can assess the situation, get my family/friends to a safe location, THEN draw and present my weapon while escape and evading.

I would avoid the compact Kimber. I chose a plethora of other subcompact pistols to rotate through. But again, that’s me. And @CumminsPusher if you want to check out my subcompacts just text me. You’re welcome to swing by whenever. 🤘🏼

Not knocking your carry at all…but if you are knowledgeable about gun safety (and I know you are) I see no reason to not carry to be ready (nomo). I carry appendix 90% of the time. The other 10% I am either in my battle belt or in a suit. I would much rather be ready at all times then have to chamber a round first. You just never know. With the appendix carry I’m still very covert but VERY easily accessible (nomo again). Sometimes seconds matter.

Well I wound up going the Kimber sub. My concern was hearing a couple people say they had issues with ejection on occasion. I talked with the shooting range quite a bit and they said and issue someone has there they’d have to test fire a ton of rounds through the guns, he’d said they never actually saw one have an issue, and this was said while he was trying to sell me something else. He blamed the “issues” on limp handed shooting.
Well I’ll say I’ve now shot north of 400 rds through it without failure. I’ll shoot at least 25 rds each time I’m out and haven’t cleaned it even once. Just started firing. It does hit hard but softer then the other subs I shot and it’s a ton of fun. I don’t ever and I mean ever not have it in my pocket. I transfer into clean jeans in the morning and drop on the floor at bedtime, even sitting on the couch watching tv it’s I’m my pocket with hammer back ready to go. Gone into places you’re not supposed to simply because I don’t even feel it in my pocket. Most at my work don’t know I’m carrying even, which is good because some would b****. Bad ass for a 9 lol. I did get extended mag with finger grip, doesn’t effect carry, much nicer to shoot with.
i love my Beretta’s especially shooting but unfortunately they are a thing of the past because this is already on me. My wife asked me to get her one which I probably will soon.

It too me a while with this pistol to be very comfortable to where I now carry ready to go. I like to become very familiar with something, but yes it’s a pretty quick draw if needed and ready to go. Wanted to do trigger job but decided against it as I wouldn’t be comfortable in pocket.

I'm not accurate with a sub compact. Therefore I carry the old Ruger Security Six 357 Mag in a pan cake holster. But I'm sure there are some sub compacts that are very good, that I could be accurate with I just haven't fired one yet. I've got a couple pistols that you just point and squeeze. Both happen to be revolvers, Ruger 357 and a Colt Pioneer Frontier 22.

It took me some time to be comfortable with it. Lots of practice and discipline.

Still practicing…

Like I said earlier in this thread. I carry my G45 99%of the time… it’s second nature to draw by using my thumb to hook up my shirt as I grab it (nomo). Quick and easy.

No worries 👍🏼 I am nearly unoffendable. Used to be called normal, but I think now it’s “alt-right?” I don’t really know. I don’t have Fecalbook or any of the other socialist medias. 😆

I was knowledgeable on firearms safety even before the Marines. I fully agree with “no reason to not carry to be ready.” My opinion on that though, however you do carry, be trained. I’ve got friends who carry full HK9’s with 2 extra mags, or a SCCY CP2, 1911’s, and one of my end-of-the-world friends has a big stupid jacket on all the time to hide his folding AR9. I ran women’s and children’s gun safety classes back in my previous home town too. Some of my friends carry and they don’t train or practice shoot. They fumble around when we do go to the range and it’s obvious they need to familiarize. Those of us who train, all train different and it works for us individually.

My mindset is, if I’m knowingly going into a dangerous area, knowing there are guns which are not in friendly hands; 1. Why am I in this situation. 2. If it’s necessary, I will put one in the pipe. 3. Situational awareness and is there a way to avoid a firearm use situation.

My everyday carry to Home Depot and then to the grocery store, stopping at a friends for some help in the shop and then home… I’m fine with Israeli carry. If I am the first one shot in some public shooter situation, what’s the chance I saw it coming and didn’t have time to take cover to assess the situation. If I hear a gun pop in Home Depot, I have a cover rich environment to escape and evade. To save and protect those who cannot. Situation will always dictate and nobody can predict the future. When I train someone new on how to carry, I present options and let them feel out what’s best for them. That’s the beauty of self protection! What are you comfy with and what let’s you be happy knowing you can react accordingly. ✌🏼

I’ll hit body mass at decent distance no problem, but it ain’t 1/2 mag through a beer can before it knocks over like the full size lol

This is one of my “WuFlu whistles” lol I built 4 damn pistols alone during the shutdown. Slick top 365 with RomeoZero only. Close quarters is best for these little flippers so it’s an everyday along with some other subs I’ve got. Bigger areas and open spaces it’ll be a full size MP9, USP40, HK45, or my P320 legion.

Does yours have a crimson trace grip?
Mine came with one and I love it.
