While I HIGHLY encourage anyone not in-the-know in regards to firearms to seek out education/training, I, like many others, do not feel it should be mandated in any way as a stipulation to exercise your right. We don't do it with any other right, and the 2A should be no exception (much of how this ruling was worded is in regards to this). However, like sex ed is taught in schools, I also feel that general firearms handling and safety should also be a requirement in public education. Start teaching these little morons from an early age what their purpose is and what they are capable of; both in the right and wrong hands. Show some photos from a trauma bay of a GSW victim. Interview some mothers who have lost their children to them. Show some videos of interviews with inmates who have murdered someone and are now serving life, talking about their regrets. Put up some legitimate data regarding their use in both crimes and self defense.

This country's 'gun problem' might just start heading in the right direction if we were a little more proactive in beating some knowledge into these kids before they become a problem.

I have a CCL permit and let it expire and took the class over. While sitting in class it dawned on me that a refresher course is a good thing for CCL card holders and the general public. The laws pertaining to the legal right to protect you and yours, the consequences of using that right is eye opening. The two classes I've taken the out come is like the movie War Games, avoidance is the best strategy.

See, this stuff drives me insane. What compromise? A compromise suggests both sides getting something out of the deal. What did I, a Pro-2A individual, get out of this? Answer: absolutely nothing. It's always take, take, take. The only 'give' is the SCOTUS basically gave back rights to states that already should have had it. As a perfectly responsible, never been in trouble with The Law, firearm owner and enthusiast; where is my compromise on suppressor ownership? Or machine gun ownership? Or Stamp-Tax free transfers?

"The Senate approved the measure late Thursday by a bipartisan 65-33 margin......Every House Democrat and 14 Republicans"

I noticed they didn't mention any Democrats voting against this. Sure sounds like a compromise to me.

Gentlemen, we need to remember that the constitution was written over 200 years ago. At the time they were using flintlocks. We don’t need anyone trying to update how it was written and turn it into a 1500 page document.

Does that statement go for the Bible as well?

That is irrelevant, you cannot protect yourself from government using flintlocks, that's why it specifically says arms.
Think about it gentlemen, during the revolutionary war they had flintlocks, cannon, clubs, axes, pitchforks, bows and arrows. Our rights not being infringed means just that. The recent ruling in NY will eventually help a lot of other States recover from some of their stupid restrictions.

As far as the Bible is concerned, there are several versions. They are protected under freedom of religion. All of those diverse variations are accepted and for those not believing in a Higher Power, they are also protected. The U.S. is not a theocracy.

At that time the freedom of the press consisted of the printed page. Do you feel that that freedom does not apply to radio , tv and the internet.

Actually they did a pretty good job with the arms available to them. Now we have better arms and a lot more people carrying them. That’s why the Libtards are trying to control your right to have them.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

That is the total of the Second Amendment. Seems pretty straightforward to me.
I am armed 90% of the time I’m awake but I don’t pretend to be part of a well regulated militia. Drives me crazy to see these 2nd amendment folks emptying their Glock into a stop sign. They are not well regulated, but they feel they are part of a militia.

I see no need for qualifications on rights guaranteed by the 2nd amendment. Your not giving anyone the ability for anything. That ability is guaranteed by the 2nd. I carry everyday everywhere. I have since I was old enough to own my own. Even before my state started to issue concealed carry permits. Qualifications are just another form of unconstitutional gun control.
Well stated! Nothing more needs to be said.
