Looking to make a list on second batteries that fit in the slot under the hood of a Pioneer 1000.

I know the Mighty Maxx and the Odyssey 925 fit great. Who has used a different brand?
Please list below so I can add to the master list.
Thanks.

Interstate SLA 1156 or Interstate DCM0035 AGM on their side fits. I have the DCM0035 AGM in mine and the mighty max is collecting dust.

35 AH as well.

Agm are deep cycle
Yes, but most are good only to 60% discharge for 300 cycles, not 80% 2000 cycles like typical DC batteries. But they sure do have many advantages like working on there sides, under water and at sub zero temps.

From Interstates we sight on that part number.

  • Long life for deep discharge uses
  • Depth of discharge should be between 50% and 80% and recharged as soon as possible
  • Ideal for applications using major capacity prior to recharging*

I put a Optima battery on under the drivers seat .. I had a 1/4 aluminum plate laying around and cut to size. Then bolted the aluminum plate under the drivers seat, then drilled and taped for a group 24 battery tray

. It was an extra tray I had from my boat ... it fit perfectly. Now I have plenty of power for when ever the need arises. I also install a Mighty Max in the “hole” to replace Honda's pathetic excuse of a battery from its location. Surprisingly, the Honda starts real quick now. I am assured the Honda’s electrical system has more than enough amps to properly operate.

Took a quick look at the batteries listed above and seems to be a huge range in price. With those listed, what is the best to run a winch a few times a year but lights and other accessories often?

Out of town and don’t have service to look into all the details but want to get lights, winch, battery, and isolator order to be there when I get back.

I gave the interstate dcm0035agm a try. Works great for me. Not sure how it would hold up to heavy winching. But I had the soundbar cranked up and light whips running for two hours and the voltage on the interstate never got below 12.6 volts. Picked mine up local for $116 with no core exchange.

Have winched out a truck and recently been "logging " with it. Been pulling locust logs up into the road to cut up. We will see how well it co continues to hold up.

I installed two identical lithium batteries in the space of the original. Winch worked great with engine running. Pulled a small car out of ditch. Stayed strong all thru the winching. Started sliding the Pioneer, but finally got the Toyota out. Very happy with fast recharge rate and capacity.

I installed a BT Radio, turn signals from scratch, winch, led light bar, back up lights, and plan for more lights later. It seems my Honda is more like a boat the more I use it ... (break out another thousand) ... I installed the mud busters and they do keep the mud off you .. rear bumper and the list continues to grow. I plan to add the arched adjustable a-arms soon.
