On the 1000 - do you have the remove the inner rear joint to replace an outer boot?

You do not.

You remove the axle and cut your old boot off. The metal bands are tough to get off but can be done.

I'll find a couple vids that will help.

how do you get the boot over the CV if you don't remove the inner CV joint and bearings? I did my front drivers side already and had to remove the inner joint as I saw no way to do the outer boot. Honda won't even sell you an outer boot without an inner boot... Just curious.

You can use "all balls" CV boots. You can get them from Rocky Mountain ATV. They sell a plastic cone for use with their more flexible rubbery boots, it will allow you to slide them over the joint.

I bought the All balls kit and the boot felt cheap and thin. I ordered the shaft rebuild kits from Rocky Mountain for $54 which includes both boots and all 4 clamps
