I had a buddy that ran a Lightning back in my bike drag racing days. But it was the 1stgen square body style. I'm certainly no Ford guy but was a 351 correct? It was pretty sick. Only mod was he swapped out pulley for little more boost and bigger injectors. In 100% street trim it'd run very low 8s (1/8th mile). It was pretty awesome. When I was a mechanic at Roush, we use to put mustang cobra 4.6motors in those expositions and supercharge them. In 2wd. That was one bad SOB! That was part of our RS program with ford. The ones I worked on we're jet black. Looked like a sleeper. The project got canned due to the svt Lightning for that body style

I never had any experience with blowers. My best friend and I built identical bikes (cbr900rr) he went turbo and I went nitrous. After my bad back forced me to sell out, I switched to a turbo'd dodge neon I built myself. Not bashing but stock 4.6L mustang gt's were my favorites to pick on. From a 65-70mph hit, my lil economy turd would walk away from one. And still averaged around 28mpg. I remember saying I'd never own a 4cyl lol. Now I love them.Yes, that was a modified 351. I don't recall the exact specs, but they were sick! Very underestimated. Our SVT team did some really cool stuff with all the government limitations back then.

what all did you have to do to get the tags? It's official, she's street legal and tagged. Drove it to Tractor Supply and grabbed some feed then to gas station for some lawn mower gas. People really look at you strangely as you pass lol. Gotta admit that was really fun.View attachment 19902
I'm trying to remember what all was on that list. Your county clerk can give you a copy of the affidavit with the requirements (at least in TN anyways). Windshield, driver side and either rearview or passenger side mirror, turn signals, brake light, rear reflectors, and parking brake. That's all that comes to mind. I may remember more in the morning lol.what all did you have to do to get the tags?
Guess my memory is better than I thought. Nailed it. Oh and you can't be on roads with posted speed limits greater than 40mph. But you can cross them to continue on your current route.Medium-Speed Vehicle Affidavit
The vehicle’s top speed is greater than thirty miles per hour (30 mph) but not more than thirty-five miles per hour (35 mph) The vehicle contains the following required items, as outlined in 49 CFR 571 (Code of Federal Regulations): Headlamps Parking brake Stop lamps One exterior mirror on the driver’s side and one additional mirror, either on the passenger side or in the interior Front and rear turn signal lamps Windshield that conforms to the Federal motor vehicle safety standard on glazing materials (49 CFR 571.205) Tail lamps Seat belts (Type 1 or 2) located at each seating position Reflex reflectors, one red on each side near the rear and one on the rear Vehicle ID Number (VIN), conforming to 49 CFR 565
