Well, the seller just refunded money after I escalated dispute over dead pump to ebay and let me keep the heater and what left. So I've ordered a new fuel pump from China. Waiting now, ETA 20 days.

I’m new to this hope you don’t mind me picking your brain my 500 is on order, I’d like to put a cab on assuming you have one what do you have the aluminum cabs kind of look funny to me but probably work better. I thought about making one out of sheet metal and spray foam, but we will see when I get the rig and figure out what I want to do. I find most people live in the lower states and don’t deal with the cold.

Right on thanks. How well does the soft cab hold the heat in? That’s my other option.

All depends how fast you breath and going :). its good for wind breaking but not heat retaining. So you need to have constant heat source.
1. Using heater off coolant system - not an option unless you fabricate thermostat valve bypass. and then its a PAIN to install :), believe me, I did it and it was the most difficult mod I did on P500.

2. Passive gas heater like golf cart heater , ok when you are stationary or very slow driving on even pavement. I use it only when we camp and watch for the game to come out.

3. Diesel heater is something I think is the only direction I would go and now working on. Its instant , constant and efficient. With good single diffuser I'm thinking it might work to melt ice on the windshield.

I drink fast and drive slow I have 500 acres and run a trap line so it’s awesome to warm up does the coolant heater work well? When the thermostat is rigged up? Deer season and moose hunting is nice to be warm to. Too use to being a heating guy want to be comfortable. Do you have a glass windshield?

I dont have thermostat bypass valve, but ChrisC does and he fabricates them, I'm still waiting for mine :)

Email him and ask , but without it , it sucks in cold days, just not enough , better say non existent when you go above 10 mph. So paying same money for coolant heater I would invest into 12v diesel heater and will test it soon.

Wait, here is my thread on heater:

1 - P500 - P500 Summit heater install

2 - P500 - Portable Electric Heater ???

OK made it work :), sorry videos are not so great but ...

Mine version is 3KW , I think for p500 more then enough and i has nice small 1 gallon tank , bc 5kw version comes with 2-3 gallons tank.
Temp taken after 20 mins work

heating core temp 342 f
exhaust - at the begging - 360 f, middle - 240f ( this is all inside of the case )
outside temp ( inlet air) - was 6-8F
output hose air - 118 F
fuel line 75-80 F

Cant wait to see it mounted in your Machine. I have a gap between the bed and roll bar i was going to mount a truck side tool box but i could put this in that gap and run the heat in below the backrest between the seats.

Does not get hot about 90- 110F I guess the most . I switched to 5KW model from 3 KW, apparently 3KW model gets hot to 350F and stops working (most likely safety kicks in), I used pump from 3kW ( 0.76 - pumping rate ) on 5 KW heater which has 1 and the temp on 5KW get to 270F and it works non stop now.

The inlet and outlet duct is 3" vs 2.5 " . So I would recommend to buy 5kw and if it gets too hot then buy slower pump from 3 kw model ( ~27$).

I also tested temp inside the box with no isolation and it was fine also .

Also after getting few glass needles under my skin , decided to take off exhaust wrap, it also becomes very brittle and shed lots of glass spikes into a box after drying out , so found this fiberglass sleeve covered with silicone

Question to all, exit duct is 3" , if I go from 3" to 2.5" will it substantially lower air flow???

I can find reducer from 3" to 2.5". But can not find defrost ducts that I can put in 3" hose.

0.76 /h pump produce 250F in 5Kw heater , 1 /h pump - 350F .
I've noticed that Rigid hose started to melt with higher rate pump, so at initial link use aluminum hose provided by in the kit .

Would this heater be better mounted under the hood or under the drivers seat? I plan on running vents for windshield defrost as well.
