Family ride to the Eternal Flame Ride - Thursday 10AM.

This will be the first year I have all my children. So figured I would plan some easy rides.

Will take a large group to the Eternal Flame Thursday 10 am.
It's an easy ride and will take most of the day.
The goal is to be back by 3 pm but it all depends.
1.5 hours there.. 1.5 hours back... 2 hours messing around.

We plan to stop by the river and let the kids play around some.
PACK LUNCH...

The meetup location will be at the RED Tent.
Will be some road riding.
All machines are welcome.

We were just talking about going to the Eternal Flame while we’re there. It’ll be nice to go with a group who knows about where they’re going, and who has kids as we’ll have our little ones.

FYI

The normal direct route that goes up Turley Mountain, across Jenny Gap, then down Dean Mine Rd. -Dean Mine road has gotten 2 pretty bad spots but is a washed out rough rocky mess most of the way down.

The second way in that takes the Coal Haul Road then mountain trail down to the first big creek crossing is also a washed out mess gets sketchy in a few spots. But nothing more dangerous than a potential flop on the side.

There is a third way in, Turley Mountain, Cross Mountain Rd, to The Coal Haul road all the way to Norma Rd (blacktop) then 5 miles North to Montgomery TN turn right into Royal Blue Unit staying low along creek all way to flame. This is by far the easiest route now.

That's was the conditions as of 5 weeks ago.

Just curious on the update on the flame we keep hearing they are going to put it out. Is this something to draw more people to it or are they really putting it out. Ive got a large group coming up with us on the 31st (roughly 8 machines) with a bunch of kids. Im going to talk to th group and see what everyone is on board with. They had talked about making an all day trip to the waterfalls, elk viewing tower, and town rock.

Ive got a large group coming up with us on the 31st (roughly 8 machines) with a bunch of kids. Im going to talk to th group and see what everyone is on board with. They had talked about making an all day trip to the waterfalls, elk viewing tower, and town rock.

My take is they don't want to close it, but bad news travels fast, if they can get the litter to stop it stays open. But that's just a guess.

the trash was my guess as well. When we went last year it wasn't terrible but I have seen pictures where it was really bad. We try to pick up at any stop we make to help where we can.

To my thinking, if that wanted it out permanently, they would have to cap it (unless it already is), and that I think would cost money. But what do I know.
