Haha I almost didn’t go yesterday sure glad I did got in the blind around 7:15 and 7:40 he was on the ground. He let his nose and the need for a date get him a bad case of heart burn lol!

I’d like to see that... I wasn’t aware they chambered the compacts in anything larger than 308 in order to keep the action short.

Me either look up the 300 rcm looks like a badass little round would be an awesome hunting round with such a short barrel length for sure. I may have to check into that rifle defiantly unique

Ahhhh, yes. That makes more sense. Truthfully, I don’t think that’s going to be worth it. I don’t think you’ll have the barrel length to allow the powder to fully burn to reach near the ballistic capability. I’m guessing ballistically it’s close to the 308 only with a lot more noise and flash.

Also, some of the short magnums are getting difficult to find over the counter ammo for. I would check and compare the ballistics for that round from the short barrel before I “pulled the trigger”!

The fact I’ve never heard of it makes me want to stay away especially for that price. Probably going to pass but still a sweet rifle think I’ll hole out on a 7mm-08 or 308.

I had a Kimber 84 in 300 WSM. Beautiful gun with French walnut and satin bluing. Not super lightweight but maybe 7.5 lb with scope.

Unpleasant beast to shoot. Sold it. Suspect that compact Ruger will do the same thing to you chambered in a compact magnum. Think hard before you buy - get that 7-08 or 308

Yeah I’m going to hold out for now. Really don’t need anything close to a 300 as I already have a bdl chambered in 300wm that’s collected dust for the past 4 years since getting the 270 but it’s such a beautiful rifle I hate taking it in the woods so I’m wanting something smaller and compact like the ruger to replace it. Beleive I’ll try and find one in 7mm-08 as I’ve had great luck out of that round but a 308 will do.

I’m really and highly considering buying the ruger American ranch in 450 bushmaster and adding a Boyd’s custom gun stock to it. Seems to be an awesome round for whitetail and would be great for my neck of the woods due to the dense ness of the woods. Thinking of building one just like this topped with a nice leupold 3x9x40 scope.

How well does it perform Todd? I’ve never been around anybody who has one so I’m looking for first hand experience. By the way gorgeous rifle.
