Black Friday Sales are coming. Would like to pull the trigger on this next week.

2019 1000-5 Deluxe. Want to stick with the factory bumper. Looking at Warn as the standard bearer - likely 4500#. Plan to use the synthetic rope. In Warn I can buy the standard model or the AXON.

Wondering what else I should be considering. Super ATV's setup could save me $250 to $300 on the total install.

Seems like if I ever need service Warn is ubiquitious. Any 4wd shop is going to have parts.

My questions:

1) is 4500# about right?
2) I want quality that I can rely on. Any others besides Warn I should consider?
3) Standard vs axon? Thoughts?

A wireless remote seems like a good idea and maybe that much less to fool with at install. The integral contactor in the AXON seems like a simplifying step in the right direction too.

Help me make the right choice. Thanks.

I did this and am extremely happy with it.
Hondasxs.com store sell Viper.

FYI, get a good tree or anchor strap as this winch will pull you to a stuck rig easily unless your anchored well.

it all depends on how much you use it.i use my trucks smittybilt 9500 winch for pulling logs to the road so i can buck them on a regular basis.my warn in my honda i've used once in 4 months.that was to pull out my docks.if it wasn't free i'd have gotten something really inexpensive.if it were me i'd be more concerned with retrieval speed than brand names.

I have the Viper elite. I like it. It’s from the Honda SXS club store. Otherwise I’d get the Axom. Oh, and welcome to the forum

Usage notes: I'm in Arizona. Mud and bogs not a common issue here as in other parts of the country. Although we do have some quicksand like conditions in places. I see 50% of my usage as getting myself out of a bind/unstuck or pulling myself through a technical section. The other 50% helping someone else in trouble. We can anchor to rocks or (depending on elevation) trees.

I don't mind paying Warn prices but if I can do the same thing for less let's hear about it. I 100% need it to work when I need it.

Viper winches are the old warn designs. Being in Arizona you'll want something that seals up well and keeps the sand out.

I have a Warn VRX 4500 with synthetic rope. It has been awesome and not a single issue.

There are a lot of good winches out there. There's always some good and bad stories about each brand.

After shopping around here's the bottom line (winch plus mount plate, remote, and wiring). All come with 50' of synthetic rope installed.

Warn VRX-45S: $514 (I may still need a relay)
Warn AXON 45S: $615 (no relay required)
Viper 4500: $390 (has all the stuff)
Super ATV Black Ops 4500: $440 (has all the stuff)

They're all within about $200 of each other. And Black Friday is coming......pretty sure SATV is doing 15% off or something. Not sure about the others.

I had the viper max on my 700 and it was great. I’ll probably go with the elite this time.

Viper is great for the price. Superwinch use to be a great deal. Axiom works great. Is it worth the money? Not sure yet. 1 year and no problems. Yanked the pioneer out like nothing. It's on the wifes wolverine.

If you are looking for a Warn winch call Montana Jacks. I've bought from him several times and the owner is great to work with and extremely helpful. Its a small operation but he probably has the best Warn prices in the country. Excellent service too.

VRX 45S = $440
He usually gives a better deal when you call and buy the plate and everything you need.

I’ve bought some parts for my 8274 from him.

However it’s my understanding Polaris bought and owns Warn now so take that info and do with it what you will.
I’m not sure of Warns customer service since the acquisition.

You use to get a terra 45 for less than $200 and then you could just add line and hawse for less than $50...

That was by far one of the best deals out there. I have 2 Terra45s now and they are a nice winch. Their prices sky rocketed and availability is no where near as good.

I've had Warn 4500S winches on my last two machines. They've never let me down. I always carry a tree strap, an extral 10' strap, and a snatch block.

'Cause ya just never know...

Yeah I think I'd heard that....this guy seems to have a good connection with warn and gets pretty good treatment. But nothing lasts forever. Time will tell.

I did what @CumminsPusher did with one of his builds. I picked up a bare Warn 4500 winch ($229 now but I think I paid closer to $200) and just added a contactor I had sitting around and put an amazon synthetic rope on it. I believe this is still one of the better ways to go and you still get a brand new warn winch. Looks like it comes from Montana Jacks that everyone talks about.
