Installed my HID's yesterday (OPT7 brand). Was able to fit all of it inside the housing. however, the cap does not go on now due to the length of the buld. Planing to drill a hole in the cap for the end of the bulb to stick through. Just wanted to see if anyone else had other ideas that worked for them?

I used a different brand, didn't have that problem.
Not sure drilling a hole is a good idea. I think if water gets splashed on the hot bulb it will fail. How moch more room do you heed? Maybe heat and a little weight on the plastic cover to stretch it.

Do you mean the outer housing or into the reflector?

sorry, bad wording...

The bulb fits and locks into the reflector, but the wired end does not fit completely inside the housing. The round cap that snaps into place does not fit anymore due to this. The bulb/ element itself is still protected.

That's what I figured. Where do you have the ballast running?
The outer plug you can cut a
Hole into and use a grommet as needed to plug.

I have everything inside the housing. The ballast and all the wires fit in there.

Are you able to use heat to extend the larger grommet then?

not sure, might be able to use a heat gun to dimple it so it will fit. what I dont want to do is warp it so i cant use it at all. Since that cover is not water tight, not sure if a little hole would matter. But i do like the idea of being more water/ dirt resistant

I think that if you concentrate the heat in the centre and keep the outer diameter unchanged, it will fit fine. Myself with the location of the light in relation to the wheel, I would not want to put a hole in it.

How much more room do you need? A blow dryer may produce enough heat to slightly change without changing the outside diameter of the cap.

Maybe a 1 inch socket and some heat you can stretch slightly

Can you post a picture or 2 of where/how you mounted it? I have ballasts and have ordered elements so this is on my to do list.
