We had to put our dog down a couple weeks ago. She was old and suffering, but that didn't make it any easier for any of us. The wife took it especially hard. For the first time ever we had no pets. Until this past Sunday. After picking up some skids from @JTW, we stopped and bought a baby corn snake. Just a baby now but should be 4' to 5' long as an adult.

Going to go pick up this sweet girl next Saturday. The wife and I will be driving down to Cincinnati Ohio to meet the breeder half way (they live in Kentucky).

She will be our camping and riding buddy , so I need to come up with a platform of some sort on the 500 , for her to ride along with us. She is a 8 week old Minni Australian shepard.

Any birders here? We had a storm go through, snapped a 12 inch Cedar off at 7 foot, decided to use, it for a bird house stand instead of cutting it down. Spent some time researching bird houses last night, this house will be in the front yard. My first thought was build/buy an ornate house, but after some research, found out you have to be careful about chemicals on the house, anyone have suggestions?

Just a friendly comment..... A bird nest sounds great, but keep in mind, something 7 feet off the ground becomes a magnet for predators looking to get into that bird box...

Thanks for the comment! I read about that last night as well, depending on the birds your trying to attract, the entry hole has to be a certain size and the hole needs to be several inches above the bottom of the house to keep predatory birds from reaching in and killing the babies. There's a Wild Bird supply store in town, think I will stop in and pick there brain.

They will be of help and know which kinds of birds migrate back into that region come Spring, so you have time to prepare...

I told the kids when the shop was done we could get a cat. I hate cats. Jan 10th was my son's birthday and as we got them ready for school I saw something peeking in the window. He was thin with a sinus infection but we nursed him back to health and I made him a house out of a rubbermaid tote and straw. He has a little bob of a tail and we think he was dumped. Kids love him and take care of him so whatever.

I've never been a cat guy either but after our last dog died we were pretty tore up and didn't want to go through that again. At the same time, we've always had a pet and with me being gone working all the time, the wife wanted a companion. A cat was the way to go as we can leave for 3 days and he's fine, doesn't need to be let out every few hours like a dog. He is a dick head though, he's a male and lives to hunt and stalk, he doesn't come to her when she calls him like a dog would. What really ticks her off is that he'll come and jump in my lap when all I do is ignore him. Found a mouse he had killed a couple years ago at the bottom of the basement stairs, picked the wrong house to wander into that night. The wife was grossed out by it and I was showering him with praise, that's my boy! ;)

Levi adopted from the shelter this week. He gets snipped next week. Supposed to be an outside cat, but you can see how well that is working on day 2 ....
