I have a 2021 talon x4 LW with the s&b particular filter and the drone it makes in 5th and 6th gear is mind numbing. Did a 500 mile trip in Michigan and talon ran perfect but the drone noise it makes now with the windshield on is crazy. I do have 32’s and you can tell it doesn’t like pulling 5th and 6th gear so it must be really loaded up in the last 2 gears. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Also heard there was 2 different elbows that comes with the particular kit?

I've owned 2 Talons and spent 3 days in another, all 3 were painfully noisy to me, even in my helmet. I won't consider riding without hearing protection - hearing loss is permanent and progressive. We're guys and hearing loss doesn't hurt so we ignore it until it's too late. Say the guys with tinnitus 24/7.

I have a jar of these living in the console, don't leave home without them.

The 500 miles were put on between Posen, alpina, st-Clair, and Michigan city. We race Offshore Racing boats (Team Woody) and we’re on the north leg of the series so packed up whole family and had a Race-Cation. It was awesome.

My buddy owns a Talon also so our trail speed was matched. We were running them hard. These rigs are trail beast and fun as heck to row gears through the trails. Motor is a tad soft with 32’s, 4- average sized adults, and trailer gear. Thinking turbo would solve the drone isssue and lack of power?

It sounds like they removed the factory intake tube that has the noise cancelling built into it. With it installed there is no intake noise but many take it off and throw it away.

I have the stock baffle. Can I use it with the S&B particular filter?

Raised the roof for cabin airflow and dust mitigation. Ran intercooler tubing and extra hardware to enclose a Uni prefilter. Gets nice clean air from just over the windshield and intake noise is neglible. I also run two mufflers. Exhaust noise is under control, but I haven't been able to do anything about the pure mechanical noise from the engine, gear whine, and tire noise - those are still pretty loud.

Possibly if you cut a hole in the fender and cut the top of the baffle off.

I put a rear windshield and insulated the back firewall with self adhesive reflective insulation. Reduced a lot of the engine heat and noise and I cannot hear my S&B unless I am stopped.

You will have to fabricate some bracket extensions and cut the windshield but it is worth the effort...

My hearing is already damaged from years of race cars with no hearing protection other than a helmet, so anytime I use ANYTHING that makes noise I use ear protection, from side by sides to impact guns...

No not that I remember. But I’m not local so could have. Love it up there in the summer.

Friends who have S&B complain about the fan noise. If you have it on a switch, try turning it off and confirm that is the cause. My R is reluctant to shift up into 6th, so I manually to it. Are you running 32” tires or bigger? That changes your shift points.

I went with KWT, since it doesn’t have a fan, needs no electricity and is quiet.

The fan noise is not a problem at all. It’s the intake drone in top of 5th and 6th gear. Yes I have 32’s.

Like some of the others here, I also either wear headsets or a helmet with a fresh air Pump. I like to listen to music plus having an intercom makes it far easier to talk with my passenger. I also run rugged radios to communicate with my group. These things are too loud to go without Hearing protection. I’ve recorded 107db when checking it. The helmet isn’t as good as the headsets for taking out the noise, but not breathing in all the dust is worth it.

Noise, vibration and heat. If you can lessen them it reduces fatigue.
