Has anyone successfully used the KFI brand winch mount for their Pioneer 1000? My winch mount bolts hit the bumper, I have huge gaps on each side where the mount plate and bumper attach to the frame. Also, my Badland fairlead is too long for the bumper mount and the KFI adapter. I feel truly SOL on this. Also the winch rope angle is terrible. Is that "just how it is" with a winch mounted in that position?

I am now looking for a better winch mounting method. I'm going to look around but figured I'd ask in here also. If anyone wants to insert a photo of what they are doing please do so. InkedIMG 20200618 181434 LIIMG 20200618 181525IMG 20200618 181510

All that is normal. Mine was the same way. Have used it heavily a couple of times... Worked fine.

(X2) same here. And yes the angle sucks but thats what you get with a winch that low. I've used mine quite a bit and no issues yet 🤞

A tip: replace the bumper bolts with some grade 8 bolts now while you are there because they are bound to break on you. My first time taking mine off I snapped one right off. Just a good/cheap thing to do now and save the headaches later.

Just measured... You need a 6 inch bolt pattern fairlead. And you don’t use the adapter plate. Just bolt it to bumper.

I had a KFI and a warn winch mount with the stock bumper, the Warn fits better and had a better cable angle.

Angle is odd on the KFI but I've used it for almost 1200 miles now with the Badlands 5000 (not the newer ZXR). Majority of those in the mountains where the winch sees use. Ran it for almost 4 hours off and on one night trying to get unstuck from the nastiest s*** I've ever been in.

Have you checked the bolts? I feel like Everytime I did a hard pull with the KFI mount the bolts loosened up. I'd notice the winch was angled down or cocked a bit and sure enough I'd have to tighten all the bolts. The Warn mount never moved around. I'm still happy I swapped to the Warn bumper

I did a while back when you mentioned having issues with them staying tight but they were still good. Mine have never come loose, but I noticed the plate was slightly bent forward. I bent it back when I fought the broken bumper bolts a few weekends ago. I really like that new Warn mount. I have been wanting to do a rear winch, so I might treat the Pioneer to a new winch/winch mount when I do it and use the current winch in the rear.

Well, no returns accepted from the eBay seller. I'll try to make this work. I'm thinking if I turn those bolts over I might have clearance. I'll just add washers to close up the side gaps. Not sure if I'm allowed to post the sellers name in here so I won't do it at this time but below is the way I received my mount. Nothing says it's even a KFI product other than the instructions. All three pieces "loose" come in this flat rate box. Thanks to all who has replied so far.

Any opinions on bumpers with winch mounts?

Well, this is my first and last KFI product. The two bolts with blue circles around them had to be removed, couldn't use them at all, maybe I wasn't supposed to?? Anyway, removed those and the bumper still hit the mounting plate and bolts. I had two choices, either grind material off the bolt and plate or knock the channels down on the bumper, I chose the later. I painted the skid section and then you can see where it still made contact again. I know a lot of people are using this mount but it sure was a PITA for me to complete.

As for the rope angle, I can live with it. Hopefully I'll never even have to use the winch. Never bought it to plan on using it a lot, just insurance. I have around $210 in the winch/mount setup and $500 in aggravation.

Don't use the two bolts circled in blue. Tried to take a few pictures of mine mounted for you. I wouldn't worry about the light scratches on the inside of the bash plate from the bolt heads. Mine look like they might be touching as well and this thing has done some work.

Honda is what I’d suggest or EMP Mount ifHonda is not in the budget is much better than KFI crap.
